YABATECH Department of Metallurgical Engineering Technology Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Metallurgical Engineering Technology Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology  in Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in YABATECH  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Yaba College of Technology is the first higher institution in Nigeria to establish a Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, with linkages with the world of commerce and industry. The centre offers compulsory courses which must be taken by all students throughout their stay in the college.

There is a Quality Assurance Unit in the college which monitors the quality of academic service delivery.

The Applied Research and Technology Innovation (ARTI) Unit was established to promote research and linkages with private sector organizations for the exploitation and use of research. ARTI also assists to promote linkages between students of Yabatech and students of other institutions especially in the area of research.

Free medical service is provided at the Medical Centre, which is open 24/7. Sports facilities are provided at the sport complex which is located at the centre of the campus. The college has won the Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association five times out of sixteen editions of the competition.

The college has a second campus at Epe, this campus is home to the Department of Agricultural Technology and Michael Otedola Information and Communication Centre.

The College is currently headed by Engineer Obafemi Omokungbe, the Rector. He is the first alumnus of the institution to be appointed Rector. He succeeded Dr. Margaret Kudirat Ladipo, on March 6, 2018 who completed her tenure December 10, 2017.

Nigerian Polytechnics Offering Metallurgical Engineering Technology

To study Metallurgical Engineering Technology candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Metallurgical Engineering Technology;

You require; English Language,
Mathematics,
Physics,
Chemistry and any one subjects from: Biology/Agricultural Science Technical Drawing,
Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity,
Auto Mechanics,
Metal Work,
Woodwork (for Civil Engineering Tech.),
Further Mathematics English Language,
Geography,
Economics/Commerce

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Metallurgical Engineering Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Mathematics, Chemistry Physics or Technical Drawing

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Metallurgical Engineering Technology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require; a) KWARAPOLY requires a credit in Physics. Accepts Credit Passes in Fine Art, Statistics, Sheet Metal/Structural Steel Work, Arc./Gas Welding, Fitting Drilling and Grinding, Vehicle Body Building, Turning, Milling, Shaping, Planning and Slotting, Vehicle Painting and Trimming and Body Repair Work as requirements for Metallurgy Engineering Technology.

b) IDAPOLY requires a credit in Physics, Mathematics and Chem. and one of the subjects listed in column

c) IDAPOLY offers the course as Metallurgical Engr. Tech.

d) KEB-POLY offers it as Metal Engineering Technology.

e) YABATECH requires Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry as UTME subject.

f) PLASPOLY requires four O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any one from Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, Technical Drawing, Biology, Geography, Economics.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Departmental Cutoff Mark 

The Departmental Cutoff Mark for Metallurgical Engineering Technology  is 61
