YABATECH Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Mechanical Engineering Technology Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology  in Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in YABATECH  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Yaba College of Technology is the first higher institution in Nigeria to establish a Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, with linkages with the world of commerce and industry. The centre offers compulsory courses which must be taken by all students throughout their stay in the college.

There is a Quality Assurance Unit in the college which monitors the quality of academic service delivery.

The Applied Research and Technology Innovation (ARTI) Unit was established to promote research and linkages with private sector organizations for the exploitation and use of research. ARTI also assists to promote linkages between students of Yabatech and students of other institutions especially in the area of research.

Free medical service is provided at the Medical Centre, which is open 24/7. Sports facilities are provided at the sport complex which is located at the centre of the campus. The college has won the Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association five times out of sixteen editions of the competition.

The college has a second campus at Epe, this campus is home to the Department of Agricultural Technology and Michael Otedola Information and Communication Centre.

The College is currently headed by Engineer Obafemi Omokungbe, the Rector. He is the first alumnus of the institution to be appointed Rector. He succeeded Dr. Margaret Kudirat Ladipo, on March 6, 2018 who completed her tenure December 10, 2017.

Nigerian Polytechnics Offering Mechanical Engineering Technology

To study Mechanical Engineering Technology candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Mechanical Engineering Technology;

You require; English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any one subject from:Biology/Agricultural Science
Technical Drawing,Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity,
Auto Mechanics,Metal Work,Woodwork(for Civil Engineering Tech.),Further Mathematics English Language,Geography,Economics/Commerce.For Marine Engineering and Industrial Safety & Environmental
Engineering a pass in Biology is required

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Mechanical Engineering Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Mathematics,
Chemistry,
Physics/Technical
Drawing.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Mechanical Engineering Technology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require; a)IMTEENUGU offers it as Mechanical Engineering.

b)AUCHIPOL : and ODSPOLY require credit pass
in Chemistry.

c)IMTE ENNGU :in addition to the stated requirements will accept one of Further Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, English or National Technical Cert. with
credits in Mathematics, Int. Science, Physical Science, English Language and Mechanical trade area.

d)ADOEKITIPOLY: accepts Pre – ND with relevant
credits.

e)RIVPOLY :requires credit in English Language.

f)YABATECH : requires Mathematics and Physics
as UTME subjects.

g)OFFAPOLY: requires Physics as UTME subject
and at least a pass in Chemistry.

h)IBDANPOLY :Same as in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology.

i)KADNAPOLY :requires Mathematics and any two
from Chemistry, Physics, Technical Drawing

j)KWAPOLY : does not accept Chemistry as one
of the UTME Subjects but accepts Credit Passes in Statistics and Wood Work as requirements for Mechanical Engineering Technology.

(k)RUGIPO accepts a pass in English Language.

l)NEKEDEPOLY: Same as in Civil Engineering.

m)FEDPO – ILA requires credit pass in any one of
Technical drawing, Additional Mathematics, and Biology as course requirement.

n)AKANUPOLY: requires two other credit passes
from Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical
Drawing/Auto Mechanics and Metal Work.

o)BAUCHIPOLY: requires mathematics, Physics
and any two from Chemistry, Metal work, and Technical Drawing as UTME subjects.

p)IMOPOLY ; requires Mathematics and Physics as UTME subjects. Credit passes are required in all Five (5) relevant subjects.

q)MAPOLY accepts a pass in English Language.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Departmental Cutoff Mark 

The Departmental Cutoff Mark for Mechanical Engineering Technology is 66
