YABATECH Department of Leisure & Tourism Management Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Leisure and Tourism Management Faculty of Social and Management Sciences   in Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in YABATECH  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Yaba College of Technology is the first higher institution in Nigeria to establish a Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, with linkages with the world of commerce and industry. The centre offers compulsory courses which must be taken by all students throughout their stay in the college.

There is a Quality Assurance Unit in the college which monitors the quality of academic service delivery.

The Applied Research and Technology Innovation (ARTI) Unit was established to promote research and linkages with private sector organizations for the exploitation and use of research. ARTI also assists to promote linkages between students of Yabatech and students of other institutions especially in the area of research.

Free medical service is provided at the Medical Centre, which is open 24/7. Sports facilities are provided at the sport complex which is located at the centre of the campus. The college has won the Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association five times out of sixteen editions of the competition.

The college has a second campus at Epe, this campus is home to the Department of Agricultural Technology and Michael Otedola Information and Communication Centre.

The College is currently headed by Engineer Obafemi Omokungbe, the Rector. He is the first alumnus of the institution to be appointed Rector. He succeeded Dr. Margaret Kudirat Ladipo, on March 6, 2018 who completed her tenure December 10, 2017.

Nigerian Polytechnics Offering Leisure and Tourism Management 

To study Leisure and Tourism Management candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Leisure And Tourism management;

You require; English Language, Geography, a Basic Science subject and two other subjects from:
Economics/Commerce,
History,
Book Keeping Principles of Accounting,
Mathematics,
Fine Arts,
French Language,
Government,
Food and Nutrition,
Nigerian Language,
Home Economics A credit pass in Mathematics is compulsory.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Leisure And Tourism management under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences in the above Universities include;

Mathematics,
Chemistry
and Physics

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Leisure And Tourism management, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require; a) FCWM requires credit passes in English Language, Geography/Government, Economics and Mathematics.

b) YABATECH requires credit in Mathematics, Eng. Lang and Geography. It requires as UTME subjects geography and one of Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science.

c) RIVCAS same as in Computer Science.

d) KAD-POLY requires Mathematics, Geography and any one from Biology/Agricultural Science, History, Government or Economics as UTME subjects.

e) EDEPOLY requires five credit passes in English Language Mathematics, Economics, Geography and any one of the following, History, Biology/Agric, Food and Nutrition, Chemistry, Physics, and French.

f) BAUCHIPOLY The minimum entry requirement into the National Diploma in Leisure and Tourism Management is four credit level passes in the O’ Level in not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language and Geography, and any two from the following: History and Geography, and any two of History, Economics, Government, Mathematics, Biology, Food and Nutrition and French.

g) MAPOLY requires four credits at one sitting or five credits at not more than two sittings to include English Language and Geography with Mathematics with at least a pass in Mathematics

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Departmental Cutoff Mark 

The Departmental Cutoff Mark for Leisure and Tourism management   is 45
