YABATECH Department of Agricultural Technology Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Agricultural Technology Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in YABATECH  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Yaba College of Technology is the first higher institution in Nigeria to establish a Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, with linkages with the world of commerce and industry. The centre offers compulsory courses which must be taken by all students throughout their stay in the college.

There is a Quality Assurance Unit in the college which monitors the quality of academic service delivery.

The Applied Research and Technology Innovation (ARTI) Unit was established to promote research and linkages with private sector organizations for the exploitation and use of research. ARTI also assists to promote linkages between students of Yabatech and students of other institutions especially in the area of research.

Free medical service is provided at the Medical Centre, which is open 24/7. Sports facilities are provided at the sport complex which is located at the centre of the campus. The college has won the Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association five times out of sixteen editions of the competition.

The college has a second campus at Epe, this campus is home to the Department of Agricultural Technology and Michael Otedola Information and Communication Centre.

The College is currently headed by Engineer Obafemi Omokungbe, the Rector. He is the first alumnus of the institution to be appointed Rector. He succeeded Dr. Margaret Kudirat Ladipo, on March 6, 2018 who completed her tenure December 10, 2017.

To study Agricultural  Technology candidates must meet the following requirements.


The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agricultural Technology;

You require; Biology/Agricultural Science,
Mathematics and any three of the following:
Food and Nutrition,
Technical Drawing,
English Language,
Nigerian Language,
Home Economics.
At least credit passes in English Language and Chemistry are compulsory


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Agricultural Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Biology/Agric. Sci,
Chemistry and any other Science subject


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agricultural Technology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require; (a) OZORO and PLASCAG require at least a pass in English and Mathematics /Statistics in addition FCFTIB requires a pass grade in Chemistry

b) FCLRT0 requires at least a pass in English Language.

c) FCAA requires at least a pass in English Language and Mathematics. Accepts four credit passes in NBTE recognized Pre-ND course offered in a Polytechnic or similar post-Secondary Institutions.

d) FCFJOS Requires either of Biology/Agricultural Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics or Geography as UTME subject

e) BUPOLY – requires Mathematics and any two subjects from Physics, Geography, Biology/Agricultural Science and Economics as UTME subjects.

f) RUGIPO accepts a pass in English Language and Physis

g) IBADAN-POLY requires at least a Pass in English Language.

h) COAMOKWA requires credit pass in Chemistry, Physics and Home Economics as course requirement.

i) YABATECH accepts Geography, Economics, Statistics or Physics as UTME subject.

j) BAUCHI-POLY: accepts Chemistry, Agric/Biology and any two other science subjects: Economics, geography, Physics, at lease passes in English and Mathematics.

k) IMO-POLY requires at least pass in chemistry and Statistics. Requires credit in English Language (not Literature in English).

l) FCFTIB requires at least a pass in English Language, Mathematics and Chemistry.

m) OZORO requires credit passes in Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science.

n) TOPS accepts Animal Husbandry in lieu Agriculture


i. RUGIPO accepts Economics.

ii. FCFJOS requires either of Biology/Agricultural Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics or Geography.

iii. TOPS requires Mathematics

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Departmental Cut-Off Mark

The departmental Cutoff Mark for Agricultural Technology in YABATECH is 59
