UNN Department of Mechanical Engineering Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Mechanical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in University of  Nigeria  Nsukka as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNN  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Nigeria, commonly referred to as UNN, is a federal university located in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria. Founded by Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1955 and formally opened on 7 October 1960, the University of Nigeria has four campuses – Nsukka, Enugu, and Ituku-Ozalla – all located in Enugu State and Aba campus in Abia State

The University of Nigeria was the first full-fledged indigenous and first autonomous university in Nigeria modelled upon the American educational system. It is the first land-grant university in Africa and one of the five most reputed universities in Nigeria. The university has 15 Faculties and 102 academic departments. The University offers 82 undergraduate programs and 211 postgraduate programmes.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Mechanical Engineering;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) BELLS same as in Computer Engineering

(ii) FED-OYE EKITI requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in SSC including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and one Science or Social Science subject.

(iii) FUNAAB requires ‘O’ level credit pass in Biology.UNN – Same as in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering.

(iv) FUTO, FUNAAB, UNIILORIN and UNN as in Agricultural Engineering.

(v) UI – As in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering.

(vi) UNIJOS, OSUSTECH and UNILAG require ‘O’ level credit pass in Further Mathematics.

(vii) UNILAG – Same as in Chemical Engineering.

(viii) LASU requires six (6) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, one Science subject and any other subject at not more than two (2) sittings.

(ix) UNIMAID accepts ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(x) MAUTECH requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Agricultural Science/Geography/Further Mathematics/Technical Drawing/Welding and Fabrication Engineering craft practice.

(xi) NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other subject at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xii) RSUST – Same as in Civil Engineering.

(xiii) MOUA – Same as in Civil Engineering.

(xiv) UYO as in Computer Engineering.

(xv) NDA requires one other Science/Technical subject from Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Biology and Geography

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Mechanical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) OOU requires any three (3) of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Mechanical Engineering, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

(i) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(ii) ND upper credit, NCE technical and HND in Mech. Engineering.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ABU accepts

a) two (2) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

b) ND upper credit, NCE credit and HND lower credit in Mechanical Engineering.

(ii) ABUAD, CRUTECH, RSUST, IGBINEDION, EKSU and FUTMINNA – as in Civil Engineering.

(iii) UNIABUJA accepts HND lower credit or ND upper credit in Mechanical Engineering from accredited institutions plus UTME requirements.

(iv) BELLS accepts

a) two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry.

b) ND/HND upper credit in Mechanical Engineering.

(v) UNIBEN – as in Chemical Engineering.

(vi) CARITAS, UNIPORT and NDU – No Direct Entry.

(vii) COOU accepts ND/HND lower credit in Mechanical Engineering and at least a ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(viii) ESUTECH does not accept ND lower credit for Direct Entry.

(ix) FUNAAB accepts `A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or equivalents. FUNAAB accepts ND upper credit in Mechanical Engineering or relevant programmes.

(x) FUTA accepts

a) ND upper credit or other professional qualification in the relevant programmes in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements.

b) GCE ‘A’ level passes at one sitting in at least two (2) of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements.

(xi) FUTO requires at least two (2) ‘A’ Level passes not below C in any of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Accepts ND/HND upper credit in relevant programmes into 200 or 300 levels respectively. Candidates must meet UTME requirements. Does not accept first degree or NCE.

(xii) UI – As in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering.

(xiii) UNIILORIN – Same as in Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering. Relevant programmes include Biomedical Engineering and Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering.

(xiv) UNIJOS requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics. Accepts ND credit in Mechanical Engineering in addition to ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

(xv) UNILAG, LAUTECH and UNIBEN – Same as in Chemical Engineering.

(xvi) LASU accepts

(a) ND distinction or HND upper credit into 200 level.

(b) HND distinction into 300 level.

(xvii) LAUTECH accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(xviii) MAUTECH accepts

(a) `A’ level passes in the relevant subjects with at least three (3) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

(b) ND/HND with a minimum of lower credit in relevant Course.

(c) IJMB seven (7) points in English, Physics, Chemistry/Mathematics.

(xix) FUTMINNA accepts ND/HND lower credits in relevant courses.

(xx) NDA requires the other Science subject from Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Biology and Geography.

(xxi) NDU, and UNN- as in Agricultural Engineering.

(xxii) OAU admits ND/HND upper credit in Mechanical Engineering to Part II and III appropriately.

(xxiii) OAU, BAYERO and FUTA – do not accept NCE Technical.

(xxiv) OOU accepts ND/HND in relevant programmes.

(xxv) RSUST and ABUAD – Same as in Civil Engineering.

(xxvi) FUAM and LAUTECH accept ND/HND upper credit into 200 and 300 levels respectively.

(xxvii) UNN – Same as in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering.

(xxviii) UYO- As in Computer Engineering.

(xxix) CARITAS requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics plus ‘O’ level credit pass in English Language. It also accepts ND, NCE Technical or HND in Mechanical Engineering for Direct Entry

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into NDA for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  200 or above in your JAMB result.
