This is to notify the general public and all aspiring students of the University of Nigeria (UNN) that the Department of Linguistics, Igbo & other African Language admission requirements have been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Linguistics, Igbo, & other African Languages include the following:
Five SSCE credit passes to include Igbo, English Language, and any other Arts subject.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
- UNN requires 5 O’ Level credit passes to include English language and one Science subject.
- Candidates for Linguistics must possess a credit pass in Literature in English while candidates for linguistics and Nigerian Language must possess a credit pass in the Nigerian language to be combined with linguistics.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Igbo and two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Linguistics, Igbo, & other African Languages if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two ‘A’ level passes in Igbo and one Arts/Social Science subject
- NCE in Igbo and one Arts subject
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNN for the 2022/2023 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a score of a minimum of 160 or above in your JAMB result.
