UNN Department of Dentistry Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Dentistry And Dental Surgery under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Science in University of  Nigeria  Nsukka as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNN  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Nigeria, commonly referred to as UNN, is a federal university located in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria. Founded by Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1955 and formally opened on 7 October 1960, the University of Nigeria has four campuses – Nsukka, Enugu, and Ituku-Ozalla – all located in Enugu State and Aba campus in Abia State

The University of Nigeria was the first full-fledged indigenous and first autonomous university in Nigeria modelled upon the American educational system. It is the first land-grant university in Africa and one of the five most reputed universities in Nigeria. The university has 15 Faculties and 102 academic departments. The University offers 82 undergraduate programs and 211 postgraduate programmes.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Dentistry And Dental Surgery;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i)  UNIJOS, UNICAL, UNN, UNIBEN, UNILAG and OAU require Physics as the other science subject.

(ii) UI – Same as in Medicine and Surgery.

(iii) UNIMAID requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology

(iv) UNILAG requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(vi) ABU requires Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(vii) UNIPORT requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Dentistry And Dental Surgery under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences in the above Universities include;

Chemistry, Biology and one (1) other Science subject
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) UNIJOS, UNICAL, UNIPORT, UNN, UNIBEN, UNILAG and OAU require Physics as the other science subject.

(ii) UI – Same as in Medicine and Surgery

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Dentistry And Dental Surgery, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;Three (3) ‘A’ level passes to include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology and Physics

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) UNIBEN accepts B.Sc Second Class Lower in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany, Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing, B.Sc or ND Optometry, B.Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy

(ii) UI as in Medicine and Surgery.

(iii) UNIJOS accepts passes in IJMB/‘A’ Level in Physics, Chemistry and Zoology or Biology. Such candidates must also have obtained five (5) ‘0’ level credits passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Zoology, English Language and Mathematics.

(iv) UNILAG accepts passes in three (3) JUPEB/’A’-level subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(v) OAU accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of second class Honours in relevant programme (Sciences).

(vi) UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

(vii) UNN requires;

a) Direct entry candidates in addition to satisfying the UTME requirements should also have three (3) ‘A’ level passes in Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics at one (1) sitting.

b) Accepts B.Sc in related programme for admission into the five (5) year standard programme.

c) MBBS may be admitted into the three (3) year clinical programme in Dentistry

(viii) ABU accepts ‘A’ Level/IJMB Passes in three subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into NDA for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  200 or above in your JAMB result.
