University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) was founded in 1975. The University is located in Choba Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Almost 50,000 students attend (UNIPORT), a second-generation Federal University emphasizing Petroleum Engineering.

Many students from various ethnic backgrounds, both local and international, attend classes at the UNIPORT.

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) was known as Rivers State College of Education from June 1971 to October 2009.

Rivers State College of Education was created as an autonomous body, with the College reaching attainment of full maturity, as it became well-placed to play a more dynamic role in society.

IAUE offers courses and programs leading to recognized higher institution degrees in different areas of study.

The current vice chancellor of the university is Prof. Okechukwu Onochukwu.

River State University

Rivers State University, formerly Rivers State University of Science and Technology, was founded in 1980. The University is located in Diobu Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Professor Nlerum Sunday Okogbule is the Vice Chancellor of the University to date.

Rhema University, Obeama-Asa

Rhema University was established in 2009. It has branches in Aba, Abia State, and Obeama-Asa, Rivers State.

Living Word Ministries International founded it.

The University is an internationally recognized institution officially recognized and accredited by NUC, the National Universities Commission of Nigeria.

Rhema University offers various degree programs that cut across different fields, including; medical sciences, management, business, social science, and arts.

PAMO University of Medical Sciences

Private medical school PAMO University of Medical Sciences is in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

As Nigeria’s first private medical university, the institution was founded in 2017.

Dr. Sir Peter Odili, a former governor of Rivers State, founded PAMO University of Medical Sciences.
