UNIPORT is now accepting applications from qualified candidates for various graduate programs for admission for the 2023/2024 academic session.
In this post, a detailed breakdown of the program available, its duration, general admission requirements, and the application process will be provided.
UNIPORT Postgraduate General Admission Requirements & Duration
In all Faculties, programs are available for the Masters’s, PGD, and Doctoral Degrees in the different disciplines.
General Admission Requirements
O/Level
All candidates require a minimum of at least five credit passes in English Language and Mathematics for all the courses.
However, candidates who wish to gain admission but who before 2012 obtained their O’Level Certificates but without a credit pass in Mathematics are qualified to apply:
- Humanity Faculty: All the Departments in the Humanity faculty.
- Education Faculty: All the Departments in the Education faculty.
- Social Sciences Faculty: All the Departments in the Social Sciences faculty except the Economics department.
All PGP Programmes
A Bachelor’s Degree in the related disciplines is a minimum requirement for the postgraduate Diploma Programme.
A Third Class or Second Class Honours Degree in the related Discipline should at least be possessed by the candidates.
A minimum of Upper Credit can be accepted in the relevant Departments for an HND holder.
PGDC
Candidates with Third Class need not apply for PGDC in chemistry.
Master’s Degree Programmes
From UNIPORT or any recognized University, candidates must possess at least a second-class degree in the relevant course with a CGPA of 3.00 at a minimum on a 5-point scale or its equivalent.
Master’s in Education candidates must possess a first Degree in another field and, additionally, a PGDE, an Upper Credit classification at least.
A strong quantitative background should be posses by MBA program candidates. To register for a Master’s Degree in the relevant field, candidates with PGD must have obtained a CGPA of 3.50.
Ph.D. Program
Candidates should have a CGPA of 3.50 or 4.00 at minimum with a Master’s Degree for candidates for Ph.D. programs.
Admission will be based on good interview performance. Ph.D. involves qualifying examinations and coursework.
MD/MS Program
Candidates must either be MBBS or graduates of Medicine of UNIPORT for at least five (5) years or experienced and confirmed academic staff of the University Medical Department.
In addition to the above, A recognized professional qualification at the fellowship level should be possessed by candidates or at least a master’s Degree from any recognized University after the MBBS Degree.
Duration of Graduate Programmes
A. Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
At least 12 calendar months and at most 24 calendar months, for a full-time basis and eight (8) weeks each for two consecutive long vacations.
B. MBA Programme
At least 24 Calendar Months and at most 36 Calendar Months for a full-time. While 36 Calendar Months or at most 48 Calendar Months for part-time.
C. MD and MS Programmes
24 months full-time.
D. Ph.D. Programs
24 or at most 60 calendar months for full-time
and 36 calendar months and a maximum of 84 calendar months. for part-timers
E. DBA Programme
From the first registration date, three (3) years and, at most, five (5) years for full-time.
Five (5) years and, at most, seven (7) years for a part-timer.
How to Apply for UNIPORT Postgraduate Admission Form
Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000.00) application fee should be paid at any of the Banks online: U&C Microfinance Bank, Fidelity Bank, UBA, Eco Bank, First Bank, Acess Bank, and Sterling Bank.
For Prospectus, it is important for every candidate to pay for Prospectus the sum of Seven Thousand Naira (N7,000.00).

The Submission of Application Forms Should be Accompanied by the Following
Two copies of the following documents should be enclosed:
- Degree/Ph.D. Certificate
- NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Certificate
- Local Government Identification Letter
- O’Level Certificate
- Affidavit of Age Declaration/Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate/ Publication of Change of Name from newspaper
- payment receipt for the Form
