UNIPORT Department of Theatre & Film Studies Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Theatre and Film Studies Faculty of Arts and Humanities    in  University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in University of Port-Harcourt to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Port Harcourt is a university in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt. It was established in 1975 as University College, Port Harcourt and was given University status in 1977. The University of Port Harcourt was ranked the sixth in Africa and the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education.

The University of Port Harcourt is a federal government owned university in Nigeria Located in rivers state, The university has a large student and staff population and we believe the student body is diverse. The university has students from different religions cultures and age brackets. The university is very cheap and offers tuition that can be affordable to every Nigeria. University of port Harcourt has offers various degree programs at various level in science, social sciences, engineering etc. The university has a library, hostels, roads, and other good infrastructure like college buildings etc.

Nigerian Universities Offering Theatre and Film Studies 

   To study Theatre and Film Studies candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Theatre And Film Studies;

You require;

Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Arts subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) UNN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in subjects to include English language, Literature in English, and one (1) Science subject.

(ii) UNIPORT requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects

(iii) UNIJOS, Fine Arts is not compulsory.

(iv) UNIJOS require ‘O’ level credit pass in Literature in English.

 

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Theatre And Film Studies under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities in the above Universities include;

Literature in English and two (2) other relevant subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) UNN requires Literature in English and two (2) subjects from either Arts or Social Sciences.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Theatre And Film Studies, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Arts, Social Sciences or Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) UNN accepts
a) ND/NCE either in Theatre Arts or any other relevant subjects or ‘A’ level pass in Literature in English.
b) ND in Mass Communication, Fine and Applied Arts, Electrical/Elect. Engineering, Music, Management and other relevant subjects plus the UTME requirements.

(ii) UNIJOS accepts ‘A’ level/IJMB pass in two (2) or three (3) ‘A’ level passes and other certificates in Drama, Mass Communication, Communication, Journalism with three (3) ‘O’ level credit passes in relevant subjects including Literature in English.

(iii) UNIJOS accept certificate in Drama, Theater Arts – Mass Communication and Music. ‘A’ level passes to include English Language, Literature in English, plus the UTME requirements.

(iv) UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT)  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
