UNIPORT Department of Dentistry & Dental Technology Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Dentistry and Dental Technology Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences  in University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in University of Port-Harcourt to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Port Harcourt is a university in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt. It was established in 1975 as University College, Port Harcourt and was given University status in 1977. The University of Port Harcourt was ranked the sixth in Africa and the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education.

The University of Port Harcourt is a federal government owned university in Nigeria Located in rivers state, The university has a large student and staff population and we believe the student body is diverse. The university has students from different religions cultures and age brackets. The university is very cheap and offers tuition that can be affordable to every Nigeria. University of port Harcourt has offers various degree programs at various level in science, social sciences, engineering etc. The university has a library, hostels, roads, and other good infrastructure like college buildings etc.

To study Dentistry and Dental Technology  candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION 

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Dentistry and Dental Technology;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

 

(i) UNN requires candidates in addition to minimum entry requirements to have ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at not more than one (1) sitting.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Dentistry and Dental Technology under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences in the above Universities include;

Chemistry, Biology and one (1) other Science subject

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

 

(i)  JOS, CALABAR, PHC, UNN, BENIN, LAGOS and OAU require Physics as the other science subject.

(ii)  IBADAN – Same as in Medicine and Surgery.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Dentistry and Dental Technology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Three (3) ‘A’ level passes to include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology and Physics.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

 

(i)  BENIN accepts B.Sc Second Class Lower in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing, B.Sc or ND Optometry, B.Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy.

(ii)  IBADAN as in Medicine and Surgery.

(iii)  JOS accepts passes in IJMB/‘A’ Level in Physics, Chemistry and Zoology or Biology. Such candidates must also have obtained five (5) ‘0’ level credits passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Zoology, English Language and Mathematics.

(iv)  LAGOS accepts passes in three (3) JUPEB/’A’-level subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(v)  OAU accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of second class Honours in relevant programme (Sciences).

(vi)  PHC – No Direct Entry.

(vii)  UNN requires

a)  Direct entry candidates in addition to satisfying the UTME requirements should also have three (3) ‘A’ level passes in Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics at one (1) sitting.

b)  Accepts B.Sc in related programme for admission into the five (5) year standard programme.

c)  MBBS may be admitted into the three (3) year clinical programme in Dentistry.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT)  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
