UNIPORT Department of Chemical Engineering Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Chemical Engineering Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology  in University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in University of Port-Harcourt to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Port Harcourt is a university in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt. It was established in 1975 as University College, Port Harcourt and was given University status in 1977. The University of Port Harcourt was ranked the sixth in Africa and the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education.

The University of Port Harcourt is a federal government owned university in Nigeria Located in rivers state, The university has a large student and staff population and we believe the student body is diverse. The university has students from different religions cultures and age brackets. The university is very cheap and offers tuition that can be affordable to every Nigeria. University of port Harcourt has offers various degree programs at various level in science, social sciences, engineering etc. The university has a library, hostels, roads, and other good infrastructure like college buildings etc.

To study Chemical Engineering candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION 

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Chemical Engineering;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language and any other Science subject.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ESUTECH accepts a pass in English Language.

(ii) FUTO accepts any other Science subjects as the fifth subject and not more than two sittings.

(iii) OSUSTECH and UNILAGOS require a credit pass in Further Mathematics as the fifth subject.

(vi) UNIILORIN accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology

(v) MAUTECH requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Technical Drawing/ Geography/ Further Mathematics.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Chemical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) NTNU accepts any three Science subjects.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Chemical Engineering, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

‘A’ level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ABU accepts
a) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
b) ND upper credit in Chemical Engineering from accredited institution
c) HND lower credit in Chemical Engineering from any accredited Institution.UYO accepts ND/HND in relevant programmes plus UTME requirements.

(ii) ABUAD accepts HND lower credit and ND upper credit in addition to UTME requirements into 200 level.

(iii) ABUJA accepts HND lower credit or ND upper credit in Chemical Engineering plus UTME requirements into 200 level.

(iv) BAUCHI accepts ND/HND in Chemical Engineering.

(v) UNIBEN – in addition to UTME requirements requires
(a) first degree Second Class Lower in Science or degree in Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy and PTI HND lower credit / ND upper credit.
(b) HND upper credit in Engineering/Technology and PTI upper credit into 300 levels.
(c) ND / HND holders should have ‘A’ grade in Mathematics.

(vi) UNIBEN accepts HND lower credit and ND upper credit plus UTME requirements.

(vii) CARITAS and UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

(viii) COOU accepts ND/HND lower credit.

(ix) ESUTECH and UNIBEN require ‘A’ level passes in any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. ESUTECH also accepts NCE/ND/HND/first degree with good
grades and UTME requirements into 200 or 300 level respectively.

(x) FUTO requires at least three (3) ‘A’ level passes not below C in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Accepts ND/HND upper credit in Engineering in addition to ‘O’ level requirements. It does not accept first degree or NCE.

(xi) IGBINEDION accepts ND in Engineering and related programmes.

(xii) UNIILORIN – Same as Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering. Relevant Programmes include Biomedical Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, Water and Environmental Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Polymer Engineering.

(xiii) UNILAG accepts
(a) very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/’A’ level subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.
(b) HND/ND distinction in related Engineering Course.
(c) Candidate must satisfy UTME requirements.

(xiv) LAUTECH accepts
a) ‘A’ Level Passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
b) ND/HND upper credit in related programmes plus the UTME requirements may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(xv) UNIMAID accepts ND Credit and IJMB 9 points in related programmes.

(xvi) MAUTECH accepts:
a) ND upper credit in Chemical Engineering
b) `A’ Level passes and IJMB in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

(xvii) FUTMINNA accepts ND/HND lower credit in addition to UTME requirements.

(xviii) NTNU – Same as in Computer Engineering.

(xix) OAU accepts ND upper credit in Chemical Engineering only.

(xxi) OSUSTECH accepts first degree from a recognized university in the relevant subjects not below Second Class Lower.

(xxii) UYO accepts ND/HND in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT)  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
