UNIMAID Department of Food Science Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Food Science and Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology  in The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in (UNIMAID) to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) is a Federal higher institution located in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State in northeast Nigeria. The university was created by the federal government of Nigeria in 1975, with the intention of its becoming one of the country’s principal higher-education institutions.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Food Science and Technology;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject

SUBJECTS SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) BELLS requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics/ Agricultural Science/ Geography or Economics/ Food and Nutrition. May consider ‘O’ Level pass in Physics.

(ii) FUTO requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology in not more than two (2) sittings.

(iii)  OAU does not accept Biology in lieu of Physics.

(iv) MTU requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent at not more than two sittings to include Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Physics.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Food Science and Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics or Biology.

SUBJECTS SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) BELLS accepts physics/mathematics.

(ii) FUTO requires Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

(iii) UNIMAID requires Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture and any one of Physics and Mathematics.

(vi) MTU requires Chemistry, Physics and any one of Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Food Science and Technology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

(i) ‘A’ Level passes in two (2) of Physics Chemistry, and Mathematics.

(ii) ND/HND upper credit in relevant programmes.

SUBJECTS SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) BELLS accepts
a) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry/Physics/ Biology/ Mathematics.
b) ND/HND/ IJMB in relevant programmes.

(ii) FUTO requires;
a) At least two (2) ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
b) ND/HND at Upper Credit level in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Engineering.
c) First Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Engineering.
d) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects namely Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. It does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet UTME ‘O’ Level requirements.

(iii) UNIMAID accepts ‘O’ Level credit pass in Biology.

(iv) MTU in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements requires:
a) a minimum of ND Upper Credit or equivalent from a recognized institution
b) G.C.E (‘A’ Level) or equivalent in at least two science subjects including Biology or Agricultural Science
c) Foundation/JUPEB obtained from Mountain Top University or other recognized Universities.

(v) OAU accepts
a) ND upper credit in Food Science and Technology.
b) ND/HND upper credit plus five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes.

(vi) WUSTO accepts
a) at least 2 A’ level passes in Chemistry, Agricultural Science or Biology, Physics or Home Economics.
b) NCE merit/credit and ND upper credit in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalents

All candidates interested in getting admitted into (UNIMAID for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  160 and above in your JAMB result.
