This is to inform the general public that the admission requirements for the Department of Sociology at the University of Calabar have been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
About The University of Calabar
The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, Nigeria’s south-south region. In 1975, the university was established.
The university has a very large student and staff population and a diverse student body. All applicants to the university are accepted, regardless of their cultural or religious background. Additionally, there is no restriction on applicants’ ages.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Sociology include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Government or History
- English Language, and three (3) other subjects
- A pass in Mathematics is required
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language and any three (3) Social Science or Arts Subjects.
Direct Entry Requirement For Sociology
Below is the Direct Entry Requirement for Sociology:
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes, including Government or History.
For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Calabar, the Candidate must score 150 and above in JAMB.
