UNICAL Department of French Admission Requirement 2023/2024

This is to inform the general public and all aspirants of the University of Calabar that the admission requirements for the Department of French have been published.

The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

About The University of Calabar

The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, Nigeria’s south-south region. In 1975, the university was established.

The university has a large student and staff population and a diverse student body. All applicants to the university are accepted, regardless of their cultural or religious background. Additionally, there is no restriction on applicants’ ages.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study French include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:

• French and English Language plus one (1) other Arts subject

Please Note: The UTME Requirement above is the same for courses like:

• Modern and European Languages
• French and International Relations
• French and International Studies
• French with German/Russian

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

• English Language
• French and any other two (2) subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.

Please Note: The UTME Subject Combination above is the same for courses like:

• Modern and European Languages
• French and International Relations
• French and International Studies
• French with German/Russian

Direct Entry Requirement For French

Below is the Direct Entry  Requirement for French

• Two (2) ‘A’ level passes, including French and one (1) other Arts subject.

Please Note: The Direct Entry Requirement above is also same for courses like:

• Modern and European Languages
• French and International Relations
• French and International Studies
• French with German/Russian

JAMB Score

For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Calabar, the Candidate must score 150 and above in JAMB.
