UNICAL Department of Economics Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to studyin the University of Calabar (UNICAL).

The University of Calabar is a university situated in Calabar, Cross River State, south-south Nigeria. It is one of Nigeria’s second generation federal universities. The University of Calabar was a campus of the University of Nigeria until 1975. The architecture was designed by John Elliott.

To study Banking and Finance , candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

Below is the UTME Requirement for Economics (in faculty of Social and Management Sciences)

  • Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) of Arts or Social Science subjects.

  • Economics with Statistics,
  • Economics and Development Studies,
  • Economics with Operation Research,
  • Peace and Development Studies,
  • Criminology and Penology,
  • Criminology,
  • Criminology and Security Studies.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

Below is the JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION for Economics in faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

English Language(*), Economics, Mathematics and any of Government, History, Geography, Literature-in-English, French and Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies.

Please note that the UTME subject combination above  is same for the courses below in faculty of Social/Management Sciences;

  • Economics with Statistics,
  • Economics and Development Studies,
  • Economics with Operation Research,
  • Peace and Development Studies,
  • Criminology and Penology,
  • Criminology,
  • Criminology and Security Studies.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR ECONOMICS

Below is the Direct Entry (DE) Requirement for Economics in faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

  • Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one (1) of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.

Please note that the DE requirement above  is same for the courses below in faculty of Social/Management Sciences;

  • Economics with Statistics,
  • Economics and Development Studies,
  • Economics with Operation Research,
  • Peace and Development Studies,
  • Criminology and Penology,

JAMB Score

For any candidate to be admitted in any Department in the University of Lagos, the Candidate must score 150 and above in JAMB.
