UNIBEN Department of Education & English Language & Literature Admission Requirement 2022/2023

This is to inform the general public and all aspiring students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) that the admission requirements for the Department of Education & English Language & Literature have been published.

UNIBEN DIrect Entry

The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & English Language & Literature include the following:

  • Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Literature in English plus three other Arts or Social Science subjects.

Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks

UNIBEN requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language and other subjects from Literature-in-English, History, French, Fine Arts, Government, and Religious Knowledge.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • English Language
  • Literature in English and one Art and any other subjects

Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks

UNIBEN the third subject could also be Arts or Social Science subject

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education & English Language & Literature if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

  • Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant teaching subjects including Literature in English.
  • NCE with credit or merit passes in two relevant subjects.

Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks

BENIN accepts:

  • Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes plus the UTME requirements
  • Two (2) or three (3) NCE merit including English Language plus three (3) or two (2) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language and any of Literature in English, Religious Studies, Fine Arts, French, History or Government at one (1) sitting

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2022/2023 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result.
