UNIBEN Department of Actuarial Science Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Actuarial Science under the Faculty of Social & Management  Sciences in University of Benin  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNIBEN  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

University of Benin is a federal government owned university, funded and managed by the federal government of Nigeria. The university was founded in 1970. University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a research university located in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. The university is one of the oldest in Nigeria and has a very large student and staff population. Resulting in a student staff ratio of about 10:1.The University has a diverse student population with student from different parts of the country and different age brackets. University of Benin courses cut across various levels in agriculture, science, etc. university of Benin admission is extremely competitive as Many candidates apply for admission into the university annually. University of Benin school fees is also very affordable and it provides its students with facilities and infrastructure, they have good hostels, roads electricity etc.The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited faculties and departments in the university.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Actuarial Science;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

i) UNIBEN accepts;

a. For Insurance ‘O’ Level credit pass in Further Mathematics is an advantage.

b. For Marketing requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other subjects at not more than two (2) sitting

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Actuarial Science under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences in the above Universities include;

Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(1) UNIBEN for Public Administration requires Government/History, one Social Science subject and any other subject

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Actuarial Science, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two ‘A’ level passes including Economics.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(1) UNIBEN accepts;

a. For Insurance and Actuarial Science:

i. Applicant should possess five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalent, two (2) of which shall be at the ‘A’ Level or ‘O’ Level credit passes at least three (3) of which shall be at the ‘A’ Level provided that subjects are not counted at both levels of the examination. Credit passes at the ‘O’ Level must include English Language and Mathematics.

ii. ND upper credit in relevant programme in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes.

iii. HND lower credit in relevant programmes in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes.

iii. Final Certificate of relevant Professional Bodies in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes.

 

b. For Marketing:

i.UTME requirements plus two (2) subjects passed at the ‘A’ Level, one(1) of which should be Accounting and the other either Economics or Business Management.

ii. In Exceptional cases the following qualifications may also be considered:

a. UTME requirements plus a complete pass in the intermediate examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria or of any other equivalent Professional Accounting bodies or

b. UTME requirements plus passes in all parts of the Associate ship Examination of the Institute of Bankers. or

c. UTME requirements plus ND upper credit in Marketing or any relevant subject from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.

d. UTME requirements plus HND in any relevant programme awarded by a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.

e. UTME requirements plus a bachelor’s degree in any programme awarded by a recognized University.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result.
