UNIABUJA Department of Electrical Engineering Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Electrical Engineering  Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in University of Abuja (UNIABUJA)  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNIABUJA  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Abuja is a tertiary institution in the Nigerian capital Abuja. It was established on January 1, 1988 (under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended) as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Academic work began in the University in 1990 with the matriculation of its pioneer students.

The university runs regular degree, diploma, and postgraduate programmes. Due to its location in the Federal Capital Territory has a Centre for Distance Learning School which provides university education to those who cannot acquire such education through the regular university system and those interested in acquiring new knowledge and specialized skills.

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Electrical Engineering;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language.


(i) LASU Same as in Mechanical Engineering.

(ii) UNIPORT requires the fifth ‘O’ level credit pass in any Science subject preferably Further Mathematics.

(iii) RSUST – Same as in Civil Engineering.

(iv) UNN – Same as in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Electrical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Electrical Engineering, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

(i) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics.

(ii) ND/HND in Elect Eng. Upper/Lower credit respectively.


(i) ABU accepts;

a) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Mathematics and Physics.

b) ND/HND upper/lower credit in Electrical Engineering with distinction in Mathematics respectively

.(ii) UNIABUJA accepts HND lower credit or ND upper credit in Electrical Engineering from accredited institutions plus UTME requirements into 200 level.

(iii) LASU accepts ND/HND upper credit in relevant programmes for a four (4) year programme.

(iv) LASU Same as in Mechanical Engineering.

(v) FUTMINNA accepts ND/HND lower credit in relevant programmes plus five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and one other science subject.

(vi) UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

(vii) RSUST – as in Civil Engineering.

(viii) UNN – Same as in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIABUJA  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
