UNIABUJA Department of Education & Christian Religious Studies Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Education and Christian Religious Studies Faculty of  Education in University of Abuja (UNIABUJA)  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNIABUJA  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Abuja is a tertiary institution in the Nigerian capital Abuja. It was established on January 1, 1988 (under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended) as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Academic work began in the University in 1990 with the matriculation of its pioneer students.

The university runs regular degree, diploma, and postgraduate programmes. Due to its location in the Federal Capital Territory has a Centre for Distance Learning School which provides university education to those who cannot acquire such education through the regular university system and those interested in acquiring new knowledge and specialized skills.

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Christian Religious Studies;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes or TC II merit in five subjects including English Language, Religious Studies and three other Arts subject.


1. LASU requires credit passes in Mathematics and CRK.

2. ABU accepts one other Social Science subject in lieu of Art subject.

3. ABSU requires Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Religious Studies and three other subjects.

4. UNICAL requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Religious Studies and three other Arts subject. Accepts at last a pass in Mathematics

5. KSU require five ‘O’ level credits or TC II merits in five subjects including English Language, CRK and three other relevant subjects.

6. UNILAG requires five Credits including English, Mathematics, CRS and 2 of Literature in English, Yoruba, History or Government, Igbo, French, IRS, Economics, and Arabic.

7. UNIABUJA also requires credit passes in Mathematics


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Christian Religious Studies under the Faculty of Education in the above Universities include;

Two Arts subject including Religious studies and one other subject.


1. OOU requires English Language and three other subjects from History, Geography/Physics, Religious Studies, French and English Literature.

2. UNILAG and UNICAL require CRS and two other Arts subjects.

3. TASUED requires English Language and any other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.

4. UNIBEN accepts any three subjects.

5. UNILAG accepts any three of Literature in English, History/Government, French, Geography, Math, Yoruba/Igbo, CRK/IRS, Commerce and Economics.


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Christian Religious Studies, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE merit in Religious Studies and one other Arts subject.


1. TASUED accepts Two ‘A’ level/ NCE Merit passes to include CRS and one other subject in Arts/ Social Sciences.

2. ABU accepts:
(a) Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE merit in CRS and Education.

3. UNICAL accepts NCE with credit or merit in CRS.

4. UNILAG accepts:
(a) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects: CRS and any two (2) of Government, History, Lit-in English, Yoruba, Igbo and French
(b) Two (2) A/Level passes in CRS and any other Arts subject.
(c) NCE: CRS and any Arts subject
(d) Candidate must satisfy O/Level requirement.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIABUJA  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
