UNIABUJA Department of Education & Biology Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Education and Biology  Faculty of  Education in University of Abuja (UNIABUJA)  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNIABUJA  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Abuja is a tertiary institution in the Nigerian capital Abuja. It was established on January 1, 1988 (under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended) as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Academic work began in the University in 1990 with the matriculation of its pioneer students.

The university runs regular degree, diploma, and postgraduate programmes. Due to its location in the Federal Capital Territory has a Centre for Distance Learning School which provides university education to those who cannot acquire such education through the regular university system and those interested in acquiring new knowledge and specialized skills.

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Biology;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one (1) other subject.


(i) AAUA and UNN accept ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics or its equivalent.

(ii) MAUTECH and OOU accept a pass in English Language.

(iii) DELSU accepts SSC ‘O’ Level with credit passes in at least five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry or Geography and Biology.

(iv) EBSU accepts five (5) SSC credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language and three (3) other science subjects.

(v) IMSU requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.

(vi) ABU accepts  (a) TC II and requires two (2) other relevant Science subjects. (b) Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one (1) other subject from Physics or Geography.

(vii) UNIUYO requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in English Language.

(viii) UMYU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include Mathematics, English Language, Biology and any other two (2) Science subjects.

(ix) BU does not accept Agricultural Science as another Science subject.

(x) TASUED requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Geography.

(xi) OAU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one (1) other subject.

(xii) UNIOSUN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology to form the core subjects, with credit passes in two (2) other relevant Science subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xiii) AAUA require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Biology, Mathematics, and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry and Agricultural Science.

(xiv) UNILAG accepts five (5)’O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any two (2) of Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, Integrated Science and Fisheries/Animal Husbandry.

(xv)  FUDMA accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include: English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one (1) of Physics, Geography, Health Science or Agricultural Science. A pass in Physics will be accepted.

(xvi)   LCU accepts ‘O’ Level credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other subject.


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Biology under the Faculty of Education in the above Universities include;

Biology and two (2) other subjects from Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

(i) OOU requires Mathematics and one (1) other subject.

(ii) UNIBEN accepts Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.

(iii)  EKSU accepts Agricultural Science/Biology.

(iv) IAUE requires Chemistry as one (1) of other two (2) subjects.

(v) DELSU requires Biology, Chemistry and one other Arts/Social Science/Science subject.

(vi) FUAM requires Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry.

(vii) TASUED requires Biology, Chemistry, and either Physics or Geography.

(viii)  FUDMA requiresBiology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

(ix)   UNILAG requires English Language, Biology and any two (2) of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

(x)     UNIMAID requires  Biology and any two (2) Science Subjects.


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Biology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

NCE/’A’ Level passes in Biology and one (1) other Science subject.


(i) MAUTECH and UDUSOK require ‘O’ Level pass in Physics or Mathematics.

(ii) UDUSOK – same as for Educ./Chemistry.

(iii) BSU, IMSU, ABSU AND UNIABUJA require NCE not below merit.

(iv) UNICAL accepts NCE credit or merit in Biology and one (1) other science subject.

(v) RSUST and FUTMINNA accept ND/HND lower credit and NCE merit in addition to four (4) relevant UTME subjects.

(vi) UNILAG accepts NCE credit/merit in Biology and other Science subjects. It accepts very good passes in the following JUPEB subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and the UTME requirements.

(vii) UNIJOS accepts NCE General English in lieu of ‘O’ Level English Language and Geography/Physics as a Science subject.

(viii) ADSU requires NCE/HND merit/credit in relevant subjects/programmes.

(ix) EKSU accepts a pass in NCE General English in lieu of ‘O’ Level credit in English Language.

(xi) UNIBEN requires ‘A’ Level passes with two (2) or three (3) NCE merit to include Biology plus three (3) or two (2) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language at one (1) sitting.

(xii) DELSU requires; a) At least merit passes and above in    Biology at NCE or above and in either    Chemistry or Geography. b) Merit in DELSU Diploma in Biology     Education.

(xiii) ATBU accepts NCE pass with five (5) years teaching experience.

(xvii) NSUK accepts ND in Science Education from ABU and any other recognised institution.

(xviii) UMYU accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level credit passes in Biology and Chemistry or Physics, Credit in NCE or upper credit in ND.

(xvix) BU accepts ‘A’ Level, IJMB/NCE/ND or its equivalent in Biology, Botany and Chemistry.

(xvx) UNIOSUN accepts NCE credit. (xvxi) ABU accepts (a)  NCE/’A’ Level /IJMB passes with ‘C’ grade in Biology and Education.

(xvxii) OAU accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or NCE credit/merit in Biology, Botany or Zoology and one (1) other Science or professional subject, ‘A’ Level pass or NCE credit/merit in Agricultural Science double major or combined with any teaching/professional subject

(xiv) IAUE requires ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Botany or Zoology and Chemistry or Physics. It accepts NCE OR ND credits (xv) MAKURDI accepts ND upper credit in relevant programmes in addition to the UTME requirements.

(xvi) TASUED requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE Science subjects to include Biology.  ND/HND upper credit in the following specialization: a)  Science Laboratory Technology-option in Biology, Chemistry AND Microbiology. b) Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry c)  Food Technology

(xvii) SSU accepts  d. IJMB passes in two (2) relevant subjects with the UTME requirements. e. ND/HND credit in relevant programmes into 100 level.

(xviii) AAUA requires three (3) NCE merit in Education, Biology and one (1) relevant teaching Science subject.

(xvii) FUDMA requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Botany/Zoology/Biology and Chemistry. It also accepts ND/NCE with good grades in any relevant programmes/ subjects.

(xviii) EBSU accepts: a) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer, Mathematics or Integrated Science. b) HND and NCE/OND with minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIABUJA  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
