UNIABUJA Department of Education & Arabic Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Education and Arabic  Faculty of  Education in University of Abuja (UNIABUJA)  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNIABUJA  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Abuja is a tertiary institution in the Nigerian capital Abuja. It was established on January 1, 1988 (under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended) as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Academic work began in the University in 1990 with the matriculation of its pioneer students.

The university runs regular degree, diploma, and postgraduate programmes. Due to its location in the Federal Capital Territory has a Centre for Distance Learning School which provides university education to those who cannot acquire such education through the regular university system and those interested in acquiring new knowledge and specialized skills.

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Arabic;

You require;

Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language and Arabic.


1. ABU accepts T.C. II at credit/merit level.

2. UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Arabic and any other three (3) Arts subjects with ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics

3.ABUJA and LASU require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Mathematics, Arabic and English Language


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Arabic under the Faculty of Education in the above Universities include;

Arabic and any 2 relevant Arts/Social Science subjects.


MAIDUGURI requires  Arabic and two (2) subjects from Arts


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Arabic, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or NCE in relevant subjects including Arabic.


1.  UMYUK accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Arabic and any other Arts subjects. NCE credit in Arabic is also acceptable.

2. ABU accepts:
(a) Two ‘A’ level/IJMB passes which must include Arabic.
(b) NCE with minimum of C grade in Arabic.

3. ILORIN accepts candidates                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     a.  who do not offer Arabic at UTME but meet the UTME requirements they may be considered for admission into 100 level.                                                                                b.  with Senior Islamic Studies Certificates as entry qualification for Islamic Studies/Arabic and related programmes, they may also be considered

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIABUJA  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
