UNIABUJA Department of Drama/Dramatic/Performing Arts Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts  Faculty of  Arts and Humanities in University of Abuja (UNIABUJA)  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in UNIABUJA  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The University of Abuja is a tertiary institution in the Nigerian capital Abuja. It was established on January 1, 1988 (under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended) as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Academic work began in the University in 1990 with the matriculation of its pioneer students.

The university runs regular degree, diploma, and postgraduate programmes. Due to its location in the Federal Capital Territory has a Centre for Distance Learning School which provides university education to those who cannot acquire such education through the regular university system and those interested in acquiring new knowledge and specialized skills.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts;

You require;

Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Arts subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ABU require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

(ii) UNIABUJA requires five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects.

(iii) UNIBEN requires LiteratureinEnglish and one (1) Arts subject.

(iv) DELSU require ‘O’ level credit pass in Literature in English.

(v) LASU accept five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and Literature inEnglish plus any other Arts/Social Science subjects.

(vi) OAU requires Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English plus one (1) Arts subject and any other two (2) subjects.

(vii) UNIPORT requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities in the above Universities include;

Literature in English and two (2) other relevant subjects

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ABU requires Literature in English and other relevant subjects.

(ii) UNIBEN accepts any two (2) Arts Subjects and another subject.

(iii) LASU require another Arts subject plus any Arts or Social Science subject. ILORIN accepts Science subject.

(iv) OAU requires Literature in English plus another Arts subject and any other subject.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Arts, Social Sciences or Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ABU accepts
a) two (2) ‘A’ level passes or NCE in Performing Arts, Journalism, Mass Communication, Creative Arts, Music and Dance, Literature in English, or any Nigerian Language at IJMB.
b) candidates with ND must also possess ‘O’ level credit pass in Literature in English.
c) General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies the UTME requirements.

(ii) UNIABUJA accepts a) a minimum of ten (10) points in NCEor NDupper credit in addition to the UTME requirements OR two (2) ‘A’ level passes including Literature in English and one (1) other Arts subject. b) NCE merit or ND upper credit in Theatre Arts with four (4) ‘O’ level credit passes.

(iii) UNIBEN requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in GCE or HSC or its equivalent in any two (2)Arts subjects. It accepts NCE merit in Music from a recognised institution.

(iv) OAU, UNIBEN and DELSU require ‘A’ level pass in Literature in English.

(v) DELSU accepts NCE merit in Music and ND upper credit in Theatre Arts, ‘A’ level passes in two (2) Arts subjects.

(vi) DELSU accept certificate in Drama, Theater Arts – Mass Communication and Music. ‘A’ level passes to include English Language, Literature in English, plus the UTME requirements.

(vii) UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

(viii) LASU accepts
a) NCE merit in Theatre/Performing/Creative or Communication Arts of recognised institutions plus five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language at not more than two (2) sittings.
b) a recognized certificate in Dramatic Arts plus one (1) other certificate in the Humanities from a recognized Institution or ‘A’ level pass in any other subject plus five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language.

(ix) NDU accepts ‘A’ levelpass in Literature in English or NCE merit, and in one (1) otherArts subject, Fine and Industrial Arts or Theatre Arts.

(x) OAU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes one (1)to include Literature in English or Yoruba.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIABUJA  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
