How to Apply for Switzerland Student Visa in Nigeria: Step by Step

1- Apply for admission:

Before you can apply for Switzerland Student visa in Nigeria, you must first contact the school you would like to attend and apply to study in the school.  You will have to send your academic certificates to the school as well as a statement.

2- Gather documents

After you have received your admission letter, gather all the relevant documents. You should also download and fill the visa application form. After filling the form, sign it before submitting it.


3- Book visa appointment and pay fee:

You will be able to book a visa appointment by sending an e-mail to abu.visa@eda.admin.ch or calling +234 810 071 8141. If necessary, you can also contact the embassy and inquire on how much you need to pay for your visa application. You will need to pay this fee before going for your visa appointment.


4- Go for your appointment

Go to your visa appointment early. While at the embassy, you will submit your documents and your biometric details will be documented. You may be asked to provide other documents and may be interviewed.


5- Collect your documents and visa:

After the appropriate processing time, you will have to pick up your documents and visa.

Before you can be seen as eligible to apply for Switzerland student visa in Nigeria, you will need the documents listed below.

1- Your international passport:

Your passport should be valid for at least 1 year after your visa application is processed. The passport should also have 2 blank pages which your visa can issued on.


2- Passport photographs:

You will need 4 recent passport photographs. The backdrop of the photo should be white and it should not have been taken more than 3 months before your visa application.


3- A completed National Visa D application form.

Fill this document honestly and sign it before submitting the document.


4- Copies of Previous visas/refusals

If you have been approved for a United States, Canadian and United Kingdom visa, attach copies of the visa or letter of approval. If you have been denied a visa by any of the above-stated countries, also include the refusal letter.


5- Cover letter: State your travel history and list of all the places you have traveled to.


6- The bio data page from your international passport.

You should make clear copies of this page.


7- Bank statement:

This statement should not be more than 1 month old. It should show that you have enough money in your bank account to pay for your tuition, accommodation and living expenses for your first year of studying in Switzerland.

If a parent or guardian will be paying your tuition or your living expenses, you should submit their bank statement and tax forms. You will also need a copy of your sponsor’s passport and birth certificate.

8- Sponsorship letter

A letter from your sponsor stating their obligation to pay your tuition and other living costs. Your sponsor’s signature should be on this letter.

10- Admission letter

Letter of admission from the school in which you have enrolled. This letter should show your course of study and the location of the school you will be attending.


11- Payment receipt

A receipt showing full or partial payment of your tuition fees.


12- Motivation letter

A letter stating your intention for going to Switzerland. This letter should justify your application for a Switzerland student visa.  You should also write a statement pledging to leave Switzerland at the end of your studies. The date you intend to leave Switzerland should also be stated in this letter.

13- Previous academic certificates

14- Visa fee receipt
