The Sokoto state government, with the leadership of the state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has appointed Bashir Garba, a professor in Applied Chemistry, as the new ice chancellor of the institution.
The appointment followed the recommendation of the Joint University Council and the Senate to elect a new vice chancellor of Sokoto State University.
Prof. Garba, age 56, will succeed Suleiman Dangoggo, a five-year professor of Chemistry. Prof. Dangoggo was elected the vice Chancellor of the institution in 2017.
Governor Tambuwal also approved the appointment of Kuluwa Abubakar Nuhu as the new Registrar of a State University.
Mrs Nuhu, on the other hand, is best known as a senior university dean and former Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Deputy Registrar in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.
According to a statement from Muhammad Bello, Mr Tambuwal’s special adviser on media and public relations, both positions are operational with immediate effect.
