SSU Department of Educational Management Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Educational Management under the Faculty of Education in Sokoto State University as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in SSU  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Arising from the insatiable quest of the people of the state for education and excellence, the idea of establishing the Sokoto State University was conceived by the then Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamakko when he established the Sokoto State University Implementation Committee in 2008. The committee was charged with the responsibility of:

Planning for the structure and facilities for the effective running of the universityseeking for and obtaining approval from the Federal Government for Sokoto state to run its own university aside, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, which is Federal Government owned and in which the indigenes of the state were marginally placed over the years arising from the Federal Character Principle; and

establishing the Sokoto State University School of Developmental Studies with the sole aim of preparing students, a one-year pre-degree programme before enrolling into the university.

The approval was granted in 2009

HOW TO CALCULATE SSU POST UTME/AGGREAGE SCORE FOR ALL COURSES

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Educational Management;

You require;

Same as in Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling.

SPECIAL CONSIDERSTION (WAIVER) REMARK

1. TASUED requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences

2. IBADAN requires five(5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences.

3. AAUA requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects.

4. ILORIN accepts ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics in lieu of credit pass.

5. LASU requires a credit pass in the candidate’s teaching subject. The teaching subjects are Economics, Geography, Political Science Government, Business Administration or Business Studies and Accounting.

6. BSU accepts GR II Teachers Certificate with credit/merit in five (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME

Economics, Mathematics and one (1) other Social Science/Arts subject.

SPECIAL CONSIDERSTION (WAIVER) REMARK

1. TASUED – Mathematics, Government and any other relevant subject from Arts and Social Science or Science.

2. IBADAN requires English Language, the subject of specialisation and one (1) each from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences.

3. NDU accepts Social Sciences subjects.

4. LASU requires candidates’ teaching subject or any other subject where the candidates’ teaching subject is Economics.

5. BENIN accepts for  a. Management Economics: Economics, Mathematics and one other Social Sciences/Arts Subject. b. Management Political Science and Public Administration: Government or History, one (1) Social Science subject and any other subject.

 

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Educational Management, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Same as in Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling.

SPECIAL CONSIDERSTION (WAIVER) REMARK

1. IBADAN – Same as in Adult Education.

2.  AAUA requires three (3) NCE merit in Education and two teaching subjects.

3. TASUED requires ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit in relevant teaching subjects. Also accepts ND/HND with upper credit.

4. ILORIN – Direct Entry only. Requires NCE with a Teaching Subject in Arts, Social Sciences or Agricultural Education.

5. LASU requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or NCE merit to include the candidate’s teaching subject. The teaching subjects are Economics, Geography, Political Science or Government, Business Administration or Business Studies and Accounting. Does not accept ND or HND.

6. BSU accepts NCE with five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or their equivalents including a credit in Mathematics and English Language OR lower credit in a relevant ND programme provided the UTME requirements are met.

7. NDU – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into SSU for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  160 and above in your JAMB result.
