Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships are being offered by the Scottish Government, in cooperation with Scottish institutions, to citizens of chosen countries who aspire to study full-time Master’s degrees entirely delivered in Scottish universities.

The scholarships are aimed at students who want to be prominent leaders, have diverse interests outside of their studies, and want to enhance their personal and academic experience in Scotland.

The scholarships are delivered in Scottish universities in the areas of science, technology, creative industries, healthcare and medical sciences, and renewable and clean energy.

Brief Description of Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships

• Host Institution(s): Scotland’s higher education institutions
• Level/Field(s) of study: Master’s degree in science, technology, creative industries, healthcare and medical sciences, or renewable and clean energy offered at Scottish Universities. Distance learning courses are eligible.
• Number of Scholarships: Up to 50
• Target group: Nationals of the following countries: Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Japan, Pakistan and the USA.
• Scholarship value/inclusions: Each scholarship is worth £8000 and can be used to cover tuition expenses for one year of full-time postgraduate Masters’s study at any of Scotland’s higher education institutions.
• Any additional costs and expenses are the responsibility of the student.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria;

• Have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university on an eligible course that will be delivered physically in Scotland, online, or a combination of the two.
• Be a citizen of Canada, India, Japan, the United States, Pakistan, or China (Hong Kong residents are also eligible because it is a Chinese Special Administrative Region).
• Be able to show that they can cover the costs of living in Scotland as well as the remaining tuition payments.
• Never studied in Scotland before.
• Must have never received a Saltire Scholarship before.
• Comply with the course’s linguistic requirements.
• Fill out an application form and submit it by the deadline of May 31, 2022.
• Applicants must indicate an interest in studying in Scotland and/or at a specific Scottish university, as well as an ambition to work and study in a global setting and assume leadership in their chosen field.
• They must also demonstrate a willingness to participate in the schedule of activities that comes with the scholarships, as well as essential interpersonal and communication abilities.

How to Apply for Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships

To be considered for a Saltire Scholarship,

• Candidates must have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on an approved course at a Scottish university.
• The scholarship application form must be filed online and must contain the unique reference number from your Scottish university’s offer letter.
• The deadline is May 31, 2023, at midnight (BST).
