The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has slammed the All Progressives Congress-led government after the state was rated 36th in the current West African Examination Council, WAEC, performance index.
In the WAEC rankings, Osun is ranked 36th out of 36 states, including the FCT.
Dr Adekunle Akindele, Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee, asked Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s government to apologize to the people of Osun State for the alleged destructive handling of the education system that resulted in the shame.
The PDP decried the unpalatable outcome due to the APC-led administration’s laissez-faire attitude toward education in the state, which has left the all-important sector in the hands of do-nothing propagandists.
In contrast, the metaphorical future leaders’ future has been fogged.
“For a long time, the state government had refused all wise counsels to hire qualified specialists to replace existing gaps in critical subjects in practically all of the state’s Public Secondary Schools, in an effort to avert the current calamity.”
“What’s more, Oyetola is content with squandering monies intended for the state’s ailing education sector on illegitimate local government elections that will undoubtedly fail.”
“These are streams of mistaken priorities that are causing innocent youngsters to experience heartbreak and poor futures through improper education,” it stated.
“As pledged during the campaign, Senator Ademola Adeleke’s administration will prioritise education by restoring sanity to the sector and moving away from personal aggrandisement.”
