OKOPOLY Department of Business Administration & Management Admission Requirement 2023/2024

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Business Administration and Management  Faculty of Administration at Federal Polytechnic, Oko (OKOPOLY).

It is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any courses offered in OKOPOLY to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The polytechnic is situated within Oko town in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State.

The kernel of what eventually became the polytechnic was the brainchild of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU), greatly catalysed by the patronage, resourcefulness and result-oriented leadership of its pioneer chairman, a former Executive Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme.

The institution is strategically located and surrounded by several centres of industries, commerce and diverse local crafts such as Awka (well known for blacksmith/iron works), Nnewi (Industry and technological products) and Onitsha and Aba (reputed for Commerce and Industries).

To study Business Administration and Management, candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Business Administration and Management;

You require

• English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics and
• any three subjects from the following: Economics/Commerce,
• Business Methods,
• Principles of Accounts,
• Literature in English
• Geography
• Office Practice
• Biology/Agricultural Science,
• Chemistry,
• Physics,
• History/Government
• Typewriting
• Shorthand

Jamb Subject Combination

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Business Administration and Management under the Faculty of Administration in the above Universities include;

• Mathematics and two of the following:
• Geography,
• Commerce,
• Government,
• Principles of Accounts and
• Economics

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Business Administration and Management, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require

Mapoly, Bida-poly and Oko-poly

Require five (5) credit passes in not more than two sittings including Economics or Commerce.

Offa-poly

Requires credit in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any one of Commerce, Business Method, Book keeping, Accounts and Geography.

Yabatech

Requires 5 credits in not more than 2 sittings which must include Mathematics, English Language and Geography and any other two from course requirement in column 2 relevant subject. Also requires as UTME subjects Mathematics, Economics, Principles of Account.

Ospoly

Requires credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of commerce, Business Method, Bookkeeping, Accounts and Geography.

Laspotech

Does not accept Literature-in-English as course requirement for Business studies.

Delpoly

Accepts Agric. Sc. and Literature in English.

Ramatpoly

Accepts Certificate in Accountancy from a recognised Institution plus necessary O/L requirements OTEFE does not accept History.

Kwara-poly

Offers it as Business Studies. Does not accept History but accepts Statistics and Secretarial Duties.

Ede-poly

Requires credits passes in one science subject, Economics and does not accept Shorthand, Typewriting, History, Office Practice, Literature in English.

Nekede-poly

Accepts as one of the three other subjects Statistic, CRS, Information Communication Technology and any one of Science subjects

Coabs

Accepts Certificate Course of the College or from any recognised institution OR any other qualification recognized by the College Academic Board.

Bauchi-poly

Requires Government in addition to compulsory, Mathematics and Economics.

Auchi-poly

Requires that the relevant number of credit should include those Mathematics, English Language and Economics.

Imo-poly

Accepts only Biology or Agricultural Science. It does not accept History and Lit. in Eng. as course requirement.

Ben-poly

Requires five ‘O’ level credits including English Language and Mathematics and three other subjects from Economics, Business Methods, Principle of Accounts, Literature-in-English, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric. Science/Biology.

Ozoro

Requires five credit passes in English Language (not Literature in English or Oral English), Mathematics and three other subjects from Economics, Business Methods, Principles of Account, Literature in English, Commerce, History/CRS, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agricultural Science/Biology.

Fidei-poly

Requires credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of commerce, Business Methods, Bookkeeping, Accounts and Geography at not more than two sittings, but does not accept Shorthand, Typewriting, History, Office Practice, and Literature in English

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into Federal Polytechnic, Oko   for the 2023/2024 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 100 or above in your JAMB result.

Conclusion

The climatic condition of the host community, Ok ranges between 28 and 42 degrees centigrade. It is one of the fastest developing tertiary institutions in Nigeria with high futuristic disposition.

It has functional memorandum of understanding with different universities within and outside the country. The Polytechnic has three campuses.

• The main campus at Oko which occupies a total land area of 89 hectares.
• Ufuma campus: This occupies a total land area of 52 hectares.
• Atani campus: This occupies a total area of 40 hectares.
