This article is designed to help students who wish to study Agricultural Engineering / Technology Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in Federal Polytechnic, Oko (OKOPOLY) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in OKOPOLY to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.
The polytechnic is situated within Oko town in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State. The kernel of what eventually became the polytechnic was the brain child of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU) greatly catalysed by the patronage, resourcefulness and result oriented leadership of its pioneer chairman, a former Executive Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
The institution is strategically located and surrounded by several centres of industries, commerce and diverse local crafts such as Awka (well known for blacksmith/iron works), Nnewi (Industry and technological products) and Onitsha and Aba (reputed for Commerce and Industries). The climatic condition of the host community, Ok ranges between 28 and 42 degrees centigrade. It is one of the fastest developing tertiary institutions in Nigeria with high futuristic disposition. It has functional memorandum of understanding with different universities within and outside the country. The Polytechnic has three campuses.
- The main campus at Oko which occupies a total land area of 89 hectres.
- Ufuma campus: This occupies a total land area of 52 hectres.
- Atani campus: This occupies a total area of 40 hectres.
To study Agricultural Engineering / Technology candidates must meet the following requirements.
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agricultural Engineering / Technology;
You require; Mathematics,
Physics and any two of the following: Biology/Agricultural Science
Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity
Food and Nutrition
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Agricultural Engineering / Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;
Mathematics and Physics/Technical Drawing,
Chemistry or any two Science subjects.
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agricultural Engineering / Technology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require; a) EKITI-POLY accepts credit in either Economics, Chemistry, T/Drawing or Geography
b) RUGIPO requires pass in Chemistry.
c) IMT-ENU accepts Agricultural Science as UTME subject.
d) KAD-POLY requires Mathematics, Physics and any other subject from Biology/Agricultural Science and Chemistry as UTME subjects.
(e) IBADAN-POLY requires credit passes in Mathematics and Physics and at least a Pass in English Language.
(f) OZORO requires Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Chemistry as UTME subjects.
(g) FCAA accepts four (4) credit passes in NBTE recognised Pre-ND courses offered in a Polytechnic or similar Post Secondary institutions. The four (4) credit passes must be from the subjects specified in Course Requirement Column above.
(h) FCLRTO requires at least a pass in English Language and Chemistry.
(i) RAMATPOLY same as in Architectural Technology
(j) FCAMP requires at least a pass in English Language as well as credit passes in Geography/Economics..
k) KWA-POLY accepts a pass in Chemistry. Accepts Credit Passes in Economics, Introduction to Agric. Science, Material / Workshop / Machininig / Tractor Layout, Power Unit, Under Carriages and Auto Electricity, Transmission System, Implements and Machines General Wood Work, Building/ Engineering Drawing, Principle of Crop Husbandry and Land Use, Materials and Workshop Processes, Construction and Maintenance of Agric. Machines as requirements for Agric. Engineering Technology
(l) RUGIPO accepts a pass in English Language.
(m) NEKEDE-POLY accepts a pass in English Language and Chemistry.
(n) MUBI–POLY At least a pass in Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science are necessary.
(o) BAUCHI-POLY: requires Mathematics, Physics, and any two of T/drawing, chemistry or two science subjects.
(p) IMO-POLY requires Five (5) credit passes in Mathematics, English Language and Physics as well as in Chemistry and Agricultural Science/Biology.
(q) TOPS requires credit passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as course requirement. Requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as UTME subjects
All candidates interested in getting admitted into Federal Polytechnic, Oko for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 100 or above in your JAMB result.
