The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife on 26th March 2022, announced a two-week mid-semester break for students beginning from Monday, 28th March 2022.
However, due to several industrial actions taken by various unions in the educational sector, more especially the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) the university has decided to extend this break.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) voted on February 2022 to embark on a one-month warning strike to press home their demands from the Federal Government.
After a one month warning strike, the Union voted on march 15th 2022 to embark on an 8-week warning strike which extends to the month of May.
With full realization of the importance and impact of these industrial actions the University Management has decided to elongate the mid-semester break by four (4) weeks.
The mid Semester break now extends to four weeks beginning from Monday the 11th of April, 2022.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife management wishes its students a most refreshing and fulfilling mid semester break.
