Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Law under the Faculty of Law in the above Universities include;

Any three Arts or Social Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

1. BU, UNILORIN, UNN, UNIBEN, AAU and OAU require Literature in English plus any two (2) subjects.

2. UNILAG accepts any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects. Does not accept Music, Fine Arts, and Principles of Accounting. Accepts either Economics or Commerce but not both.

3. UI – accepts Science subjects.

4. CUAB require Literature in English and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.

5. UNIPORT requires Literature in English and any two (2) subjects from Economics, Government, History, Geography, Commerce, Christian Religious Studies and Islamic Studies

6. RSUST requires History or Government and two (2) other subjects.

O’Level Requirements


The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Law;

You require;Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS 

1. UNN does not require Mathematics and does not accept Fine Art or Local languages.

2. UI – requires 5 ‘O’ level Credits passes at one sitting or six ‘O’ level subjects at 2 sitting to include English. Language, Lit-in-English any other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Science.

3. UNIUYO, MADONNA, BIU, and BENIN accept ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics.

4. AAU require a credit in one science subject and one Commercial subject and at least a pass in Mathematics.

5. BSU accepts any other three Arts/Social Science. subjects

6. UNILAG requires the Five O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and Lit. in English and one of Arts or Social Science subject.

7. ESUTECH requires credit passes in Mathematics or Science subject.

8. UNIJOS credit pass in Mathematics is not compulsory.

9.  OAU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and Literature in English.

10. ABUAD requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Maths, Literature in English and two other subjects from Arts or Social Science at one sitting.

11. NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

 

12. BOWEN – requires five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and three other Arts subjects at not more than two sittings.

13. UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) Social Science or Arts subjects

14. KSU requires five credit passes at SSCE(or its equivalent) in English Language, English Literature and any other three Sciences, Social Sciences or Arts subjects.

15. CUAB requires five (5) ‘O’ level credits passes in English Language, Literature in English, Government and Economics at not more than two (2) sittings. Candidates with ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics may be eligible for admission.

16 UNIPORT requires two (2) other ‘O’ level credit passes from Economics, Government, History, Geography, Commerce, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies at not more than two (2) sittings

17. ESUTECH requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics or Science subject

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Law, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

1. Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.

2. NCE/ND/First Degree (Second Class Lower).

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

1. AAU do not accept NCE.

2. AAU does not accept any Diploma and NCE but accepts only first degree (minimum of 2.2) plus the ‘O’ level requirements.

3. UNIBEN  requires  UTME  requirements  plustwo  (2)  ‘A’ level passes; HND Lower credit and NCE credit passes in  two  (2)  teaching subjects;  Degree  with  at  least second class lower division

4. RSUST and OAU accept First Degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours plus UTME requirements, but does not accept NCE/ND/HND.

5. UNIJOS accepts any Class of first Degree but does not accept NCE, ND, HND.

6. UNIUYO does not accept IJMB Mathematics and/or any other Science subject.

7. UNILAG accepts:
(a) very good passes in JUPEB ‘A’ level subjects, Literature in English and any two (2) Arts or Social Sciences.

b) first degree with a minimum of second class upper two ‘A’ level papers in any subject plus UTME requirements.

8. LASU requires

a) two (2) ‘A’ level passes with ‘O level credit passes in English Language and Literature in English

b) first degree minimum of third class plus ‘O’ level credit passes in five (5) subjects to include English Language and Literature in English

9. AAUA requires credit passes in Literature-in-English and Mathematics.

10. BIU  requires  in  addition  to  the UTME requirements  a minimum of two (2) relevant passes at ‘A’ level or NCE merits in three (3) subjects

11. BIU accepts ‘A’ level/NCE (three merits) in relevant discipline not below credit level plus O Level requirements.

12. OAU accepts First Degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours plus UTME requirements.

13. UNIOSUN accepts:
(a) three (3) papers at Principal level in Higher School Certificate or GCE Advanced level together with credit passes in not less than five other subjects including in English Language and Literature in English in the SSS Certificate Examination or GCE “O” Level examination or their equivalent, or
(b) A University degree of Osun State University, in a relevant discipline – of not less than a Second Class Lower Division or any other recognised University in a relevant discipline..

14. RSUST accepts only candidates with first Degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours in addition to O’ level requirements.

15. BOWEN accepts
a) three  (3)  ‘A’ level passes together  with ‘O’  level credit passes at not less than five (5) other subjects including   English   Language   and   Literature   in English,or equivalents,
b) a University degree of not less than a second class lower division   plus ‘O’level   credit passes in English Language and Literature in English,
c) two  (2)  ‘A’  level  passes  or equivalents  plus  three (3)   ‘O’   level   credit   passes including English Language and Literature in English

16. NDU accepts:
a. At least 2 passes at Advance GCE level in relevant subject or its equivalent subjects.
b. ‘O’ Level or its equivalent in five (5) subjects at credit passes in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics. Plus at least Second Class Honours degree of this University or any other University recognized by Senate.

17. CUAB accepts:
(a) A degree
(b) Mature students with experience in related fields who possess basic requirements in
(c) shall be considered who for admission.

18. UMYU requires
a. two A level credit passes in any Art or Social Science subject.
b. At least 9 points in the acceptable subject combination in IJMB.
c. A Bachelor’s Degree in any Discipline with at least a Second Class Lower.

19. ABUAD accepts excellent passes in JUPEB subjects

20. COOU  accepts  GCE,  ‘A’  level  or  HSC  passes  in  two  (2) subjects plus ‘O’level credit passes in three (3)subjects including English Language and Mathematics, Literature  in  English  plus  UTME  requirements,  first degree at  least  second  class  lower.
Does  not  require Literature in English for degree holders.

21.  UI accepts two (2) passes at ‘A’ level plus ‘O’ level credit passes in five (5) or six (6) other subjects including English Language and Literature in English. Accepts good first degree with ‘O level credit pass in English Language.

22. UNIPORT accepts first degree with a minimum of second class honours. All Direct Entry candidates MUST satisfy ‘O’ level requirements

23. UNIUYO does not accept IJMB Mathematics and/or any other Science subject.
