About NABTEB
The National Business and Technical Examination Board, known as NABTEB, is an examination board in Nigeria that conducts exams for technical and business innovation colleges in Nigeria.
The board conducts National Technical Education (NTC), National Business Certificate (NBC), and their respective advanced exams, which are ANBC and ANTC.
NABTEB conducts O’Level and A’Level exams. A’Level is an advanced O’Level exam that candidates who had earlier sat for and made their O’Level NABTEB exams can be sat for.
NABTEB O’Level is a certificate for admission, while A’Level is mostly for job purposes.
The A’Level result is also beneficial for direct entry into a higher institution. Passing through the A’Level program, one will graduate as a technician.

Important Notice to Candidates
- Entries that do not tally with the board’s regulations would be rejected.
- The board will ensure examinations occur as per the timetable at various centers. However, if there is any change, it will be communicated to candidates through the mass media or their centers. Candidates are advised to check for such vital information at their centers/NABTEB website at least three days before the commencement of the examinations.
- The board has the right to cancel or withhold the results of any candidate for any reason connected with irregularities and examination malpractice.
- The board shall relieve its agents from all responsibilities regarding injury, delay, loss, or damage that results from direct or indirect action or neglect on their side while acting in the course of or concerning the board’s examinations.
- The board may reject the scripts of any candidate in any paper for which the candidate has yet to be duly registered.
- Three changes would only be allowed for trades/subjects after registration, but no change would be allowed for Bio-data entries.
Materials Allowed to the Examination
- All candidates must bring their pen, pencil, eraser, ink, ruler, and mathematical set.
- Drawing Materials: Candidates must provide their drawing board, Tee-square, metric scale ruler, and other drawing instruments. They can also use slide rules during the examination if the need arises.
- A simple and noiseless calculator is allowed to be used.
- Candidates cannot enter the examination hall with a GSM handset and other electronic gadgets.
Date and Time of Examination
- Candidates must check the date and the time of commencement of their papers from the examination timetable and their examination center or the board’s website.
- Morning papers commence at 9.00 a.m. Candidates are to arrive at their examination centers at least half an hour before the commencement of each paper.
- Candidates are permitted to leave the hall if on confirmed health grounds until 30 minutes before the end of the exam. Where a health problem is confirmed, the center supervisor is instructed to ensure that question papers and other work materials do not leave the examination hall. Also, candidates are kept from an examination hall 30 minutes after the commencement of a paper.
- As indicated on the timetable, all practical/oral tests are expected to commence at 9.00 a.m. Candidates must report at the centers where they are expected to write their practical/oral examination at the scheduled time on the timetable.
Examination Rules
- Examination Malpractice Act No. 33 of 1999: The candidate’s attention is drawn to the provisions of Examination Malpractice Act No. 33 of 1999, which provides unwavering penalties for exam malpractice. Candidates are warned to desist from actions that would breach the provisions of the Act.
- Candidates cannot bring textbooks, scripts, or plain sheets of paper into the hall except materials they have been specifically told to bring for the examination.
- Candidates are not allowed to communicate with each other during the examinations. Candidates who want to ask questions should raise their hands to attract the supervisor’s attention.
- The board will not accept responsibility for the loss of books, bags, or other property candidates bring to the examination center.
- Any candidate who disobeys these instructions may be asked to discontinue their work by the supervisor who is under instruction to report such disobedience to the board.
- If examination officials or school authorities are involved in Examination malpractice or irregularities, candidates may report directly to the board with proof.
Practical Examination
In the case of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), candidates may be allowed to provide their computers/laptops.
Candidates are expected to exercise the utmost care in using the machines and tools provided by their centers.
The cut list for practical papers will be sent to centers, and candidates have to make arrangements with the principals or owners of their centers to procure materials for their practical papers, for which they have to pay.
The cost of the materials required for each practical paper will be calculated by the council and sent to the centers.
Candidates are to demand it from the principals or owners of their centers, who are instructed to make it available to candidates who may want to make private arrangements to get the material for practical papers.
Candidates are, therefore, strongly advised to go to their centers at least one week before the commencement of their papers to make the necessary arrangements for getting their materials for practicals.
Irregular Entries
No results will be issued to candidates who sit for papers for which they did not register.
If you register for a paper and your name does not appear on the attendance sheet, report to the supervisor, who will take appropriate action.
If you have been registered for the wrong paper(s) or your name has been spelled incorrectly, you must immediately let the supervisor know for correction.
Registration for two or more trades simultaneously will be invalid.
Passport Photograph
You must scan and upload your colored passport photo with a RED background which measures 2cm x 1.5cm. You are not allowed to use a webcam passport.
Admission Notice Form
Candidates should download the admission notification form for all registered papers and bring it to the examination hall.
Personal Data
You must provide your data, which includes:

Multiple Entries
Multiple entries and registrations will be invalid. Candidates are required to enroll for only one trade.
Trade Related and Trade Components
- Examination centers may only register candidates for trades for which their centers are approved. Colleges/schools that do not strictly adhere to this will invalidate their enrollments in the affected subjects.
- ANBC/ANTC candidates can only write general education subjects at a reasonable level.
- Except for candidates applying for general education, all other candidates can only apply for any of the subjects listed against their trades.
Visually Challenged Candidates
- Visually-challenged candidates will also register online but must state their challenges.
- Added privilege should be given to all “albinos” who will write the examinations.
