LASU Department of Physiology Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study  Physiology Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences  in Lagos State University  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in LASU  to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence. The university caters for a population of over 35,000 students enrolled for full-time. The university also offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Lagos State University is located in Ojo, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria. LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree and post graduate programmes including an MBA programme.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Physiology;

You require;

Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(i) UNIBEN requires at least five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or  equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(ii) UI –  require the ‘O’ level credit passes at one (1) sitting.

(iii) UNILORIN accepts ‘O’ level pass in English Language with distinction in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics

(iv) DELSU requires SSC ‘O’ Level or its equivalent with credit passes in at least five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings.

(v) FED-DUTSE requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(vi) RSUST requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics.

(vii) FUTA requires five (5) SSC credit passes or its equivalent at a maximum of two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(viii) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(ix) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(x) UNIPORT requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xi) EDSU requires Five Credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Physiology under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences in the above Universities include;

Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(i) BABCOCK – accepts any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry Biology and Mathematics

(ii) OOU accepts any three (3) of Physics Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology

(iii) UNILORIN requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(iv) UNILAG requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(v) ABU requires Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(vi) UNIPORT requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(vii) EDSU requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Physiology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Zoology

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) AAU – Same as for Medical Laboratory Science

(ii) ABUAD requires three (3) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Zoology

(iii) UNIBEN accepts

a) three (3) ‘A’ level passes or equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings. The Subjects are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Zoology in addition to ‘O’ level requirements.

b) at least a second class lower division in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology and Botany.

(iv) UNICAL and UNIPORT – No direct entry

(v) UI – requires two (2) A’ level passes from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany plus the UTME requirements.

(vi) UNILORIN requires ‘A’ level passes from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(vii) UNILAG accepts passes in three (3) JUPEB/‘A’ level subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

(viii) LAUTECH accepts ‘A’ level passes in Biology and Chemistry or Physics or ND/HND upper credit in relevant programme

(ix) ABU accepts ‘A’ Level/IJMB Passes in three subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology.

(x) DELSU requires:

a) HSC or GCE ‘A’ Level or its equivalent passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology (Botany may be accepted in lieu of Biology or Zoology.

b) First degree in relevant Biological Sciences not below Second Class Lower Division.

(xi) UNIPORT accepts Three (3) A/Level passes in JUPEB or IJMB or GCE or HSC Passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology including UTME entry requirements.

(xii) EDSU accepts Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology in addition to UTME requirements. BSc. etc in a relevant field. OND/HND in related courses with Credit pass plus O’ level entry requirement. IJMB/JUPEB.

(xiii) FUTA requires;

a) A minimum of Upper Credit at National Diploma Level from recognised Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in relevant disciplines; or

b) ‘A’ Level passes or its equivalent (such as GCE Cambridge, JUPEB etc.) at one sitting in at least two (2) Science subjects including Biology

 

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into LASU for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 160 or above in your JAMB result.
