Concept of The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarships
The IsDB Scholarship Programme goes beyond simply providing outstanding and eligible students with financial aid in the traditional sense of a scholarship programme. It is also a tool for enhancing the socioeconomic standing of Muslim communities and Member Countries.
Since the scholarship is granted to the students as an interest-free loan (Qard Hasan) and as a grant to their communities/countries of origin, it can be considered both a scholarship programme and a development initiative.
After graduating and finding gainful employment, students must meet the duties outlined in each curriculum.
Additionally, the students are expected to contribute to the advancement of their communities and nations through their chosen professions in order to supplement the IsDB Programme and guarantee its long-term continuation.
The refunded funds will be utilised to award scholarships to more students from the same community or nation.
However, the community development services provided by students and recent graduates will aid in the general growth of the region/nation.
Objectives
The Bank has been leading development programmes since 1983 to promote technology and information sharing among its member countries and Muslim populations in non-member countries.
The Programmes are significant components of these initiatives.
They are made to draw in gifted students of both sexes and to develop the necessary skills, with a focus on sustainability sciences, to strengthen communities and help them carry out their regional, national, and international development plans, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The mission statement is to make the researchers and students into Good Citizens & Competent Professionals (GCCPs).
