Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Unveils Six New Departments, Welcomes Fresh Students

The Management of (IAUE) Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has recently announced the establishment of six new departments, enlarging the university programs and students’ academic opportunities.

During the matriculation ceremony held on the 31st of March, the announcement was made at the university auditorium.

The new departments include employment and human resource management, entrepreneurship, social work, science education, social science education, and business education.

National Universities Commission (NUC) has also approved the Departmentbanking and finance department.

More opportunities for admission for indigenes and residents of the state will be created by expanding the academic programs, as emphasized by Professor Okechukwu Onuchukwu, the acting vice-chancellor.

He assured the newly admitted matriculated that his administration would encourage them to pursue quality tertiary education, preparing them to attain a greater height.

Graduating with good grades should be the primary focus of students, as said by Prof Okechukwu.

He also urges students with a passion for sports to take part, having considered the industry’s potential opportunities.

Professor Onuchuku also expressed gratitude towards the Rivers State Government and the parents for their support and confidence in the institution.

He also reassured them that their trust would not go in vain.

This academic year a total of 7,077 students were admitted into IAUE, and of this number through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), 6,736 were admitted.

Three hundred forty-one (341) students were admitted through ‘A’ level/direct entry pathways.
