What Is LinkedIn?

LinkedIn was bought by Microsoft in 2016 for a whopping $26B.

But while comparable to other social networking platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. LinkedIn’s professional outlook is what makes it unique.

LinkedIn is an online networking meeting place that assists people in making professional contacts, sharing their experiences and resumes, and finding jobs.

LinkedIn, despite its professional purpose, is strikingly similar to social networking sites like Facebook. Its concepts include interacting with friends, providing updates, sharing and enjoying posts and photographs, and so on.

LinkedIn also gives Facebook concepts a professional spin. For example, your profile can be converted into a résumé, replete with job experience, accomplishments, recommendations, and referrals from peers.

LinkedIn also has a full career deck where you may browse and apply for employment.

Many employment opportunities are now LinkedIn compatible, so you might be able to share your LinkedIn profile when applying for a job.

This saves you from having to enter your work history manually into a portal.

It’s essential to mention that you may use LinkedIn’s download tool to create a PDF resume using all of the information on your profile if you don’t already have one ready.

A downloaded resume will almost surely be longer than you want it to be and won’t likely be as attractive as one you made yourself.

You may adapt your work information to better fit the position you’re applying for by uploading a customized resume to your profile, making sure you stand out in the correct areas. The same holds true while making a job application.

If so, click the plus (+) symbol located to the left of the pencil symbol in the box’s upper right corner.

It’s possible that the Featured section is disabled if you can’t view it.

In a case like that, select Add Section at the top of your profile before selecting Featured and then Media. After that, you can move on to this guide’s step 6.

Step 5: Alternatively, select Media from the drop-down menu that appears if you have the Featured section and have chosen Add featured or the plus + button.

Step 6: In the file upload window that displays, find the resume paper you wish to upload. After clicking it, select Open.

Some people utilize LinkedIn to improve their professional reputation by posting in the news feed and commenting on other people’s posts.

LinkedIn has a premium feature that offers features including online professional development seminars, insights into who is looking at your profile, and the ability to message anyone on LinkedIn, even if they are not in your network.

Type the name of the person you want to sever ties with into the search bar to access their profile if you know their name. Then, hit the three dots next to their name, choose “Remove Connection,” and then tap “Remove Connection” a second time to confirm your decision.

If not, follow these instructions for using the Connections page instead:

How to Deactivate Profile on Linkedin

To deactivate and delete your LinkedIn account, all you have to do is follow the following steps below:

Step 1: Log in to the LinkedIn website using your username and password.

Step 2: Once logged in, select Me from the menu bar at the top of the screen, which displays just beneath your profile photo.

Step 3: Select Settings & Privacy from the drop-down menu that opens.

Step 4: In the left-hand menu, choose the Account preferences tab, and then pick Account management from the submenu that opens.

Step 5: In the Account Management section, next to Close account, click Change.

Quick tip: If you are not ready to completely delete your account, you can select to Hibernate it, which will temporarily deactivate it.

Step 6: On the next page, you’ll be asked to confirm your decision to close your account, as well as the explanation for your decision.

You can also use the feedback box to provide LinkedIn with further comments or concerns. When you’re finished, click Next.

If you have a Premium subscription, you’ll have to downgrade to Basic membership before you may terminate your account.

Step 7: You will then be prompted to re-enter your password to finish the deletion procedure. Fill in the blanks and then click Close account.

LinkedIn can take up to seven days to erase all of your information from its servers. However, deleting your account will erase all of your contacts and profile information.

This means that if you wish to return to LinkedIn in the future, you’ll have to start again, rebuilding your connections and relationships.

However, even after those seven days have elapsed, you may still be able to find your LinkedIn account on search engines like Google and Bing.

This is due to the fact that search engines might update more slowly than individual web pages.

Give it a few weeks, and the search engines will clear their caches and update their results.

If you want to keep any information after your account is deactivated, LinkedIn allows you to download a copy of your data before it is deleted.

Final Thoughts
