How to Delete Fitbit Account

Tired of using Fitbit? Here is how to delete Fitbit account without much hassle.

What Is Fitbit?

Fitbit is a wearable activity tracker that is worn on the wrist. It tracks your daily activity, regardless of whether you walk, run, cycle, swim, or work out at the gym.

Fitbits are classified into two types: trackers and watches.

Trackers are more focused on activity and tracking, whereas a Fitbit Smartwatch has smartphone-like features.

Depending on the Fitbit you choose, some can also track your heart rate, sleep, and menstrual cycle to provide a more complete picture of your overall health.

Some Fitbits can even detect your type of exercise (swimming, cycling, running, etc.) and provide optimized tracking.

In addition, some come with entertaining extras like breathing exercises, on-screen workouts, the ability to connect your music streaming account to your watch so you can listen to music without a phone while exercising, phone, text and app notifications, calendar alerts, and Fitbit Pay, which can be very helpful if you forget your wallet!

How Does Fitbit Work?

Fitbit trackers and also watches use a 3-axis accelerometer to track movements, with algorithms designed to look for specific movement patterns. Some devices include an altimeter to detect whether you are ascending or descending the stairs.

Your Fitbit device will estimate your steps, distance, and calories burned as you move, which you can view on the tracker’s face or through the Fitbit app.

Heart-rate monitoring: Photoplethysmography (PPG) technology measures the volume of blood in your wrist and determines how many times your heart beats per minute using light.

Fitbit tracks your sleep patterns by using heart rate sensors and motion detectors throughout the night.

The data is reported as a personalized Sleep Score in the Fitbit app in the morning, indicating how well you slept.

Exercise tracking: Organizations such as the World Health Organization recommend that you achieve a weekly goal of over 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity.

Fitbit will automatically set your weekly goal to 150 Active Zone Minutes, and as you exercise, it will track your effort by tracking Fat Burn, Cardio, and Peak activity.

Every minute you spend in the Fat Burn Zone earns you one Active Zone Minute, and every minute spent in the Cardio/Peak zones earns you two Active Zone Minutes.

Your heart rate and how hard you’re working out determine which zone you’re in.

Other metrics include: Some Fitbits can also track additional health metrics and help you tune into your body even more. You will, however, need to purchase a Premium membership to do so.

If you no longer own a Fitbit and want to delete the personal information you saved with it, or if you want to start over with a new device and delete the old data associated with an older Fitbit, you should do this.

If you change your mind after deleting the account, you have seven days to restore your data before it is permanently erased. The account cannot be recovered after seven days.

Fitbit erases all data from deleted accounts within 30 to 90 days, though the company reserves the right to keep data on its servers in accordance with its privacy policies.
