Heisman Scholarship Levels
The scholarship award is in three levels:
- $1,000 State Winners
- $2,000 National Finalists
- $10,000 National Winners
$1,000 State Winners
A $1,000 college scholarship is awarded to one senior male and one senior female from 88 states.
The 88 State Winners who do not move to the National Finalist round receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
while the rest of the competitors advance to the next round.
$2,000 National Finalists
There are fewer people in this category, and the price tag is higher.
Only 12 people qualify from the state levels for this level. Then, as the competition gets tougher, ten people who perform excellently well but not enough to advance to the next stage are awarded a $2000 college scholarship.
The 12 National Finalists are selected from 100 State Winners, six senior males and six senior females from the six geographic regions below.
$10,000 Scholarship National Winners
This is the last stage of the scholarship grant, and just two people earn this award: one senior male and one senior female.
The judging panel selects one senior male and one senior female from the 12 national finalists they think performed better than all the others.
Who Is Eligible for the Heisman High School Scholarship
There are no strict eligibility rules for the Heisman scholarship. Anyone can apply for this scholarship as long as they are in high school.
Below are some of the eligibility criteria for the Heisman scholarship award:
- You must be a high school senior athlete
- You must excel both in class and on the field
- It would be best if you had a CGPA of at least 3.0
- You must have participated in at least one of the 48 sports the International Olympic Committee recognized in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
- You must be a recognized athlete with your school’s team

Choose a Reviewer
A reviewer is one of your school officials who goes through your application to ensure that every detail is added correctly.
The school official can be any teacher, counselor, or administrator at your high school.
You’ll need to enter your reviewer’s full name and email address on the application, so it’s good to check with them before you start.
Start the Application
Before you can begin your application, you must complete an eligibility quiz.
If you meet the academic and athletic eligibility requirements, you will be able to register and begin your application to state how you learn, perform, and lead in your school and community.
Begin your registration by creating an account and establishing a username and password.
You need to remember your login details as you would require them to constantly log back into the porta to update and review your application while the registration is open.
You don’t have to complete the entire application at one time. Instead, you can save it and return later using your username and password.
But do be sure to accurately and thoroughly answer every question before submitting your application.
You must note that incorrect or incomplete applications can disqualify you from the program.
Finish Before the Deadline
As much as you would love to be as accurate as possible with your application process, you should ensure to finish your application process before the closing date.
After completing your application, follow up with your reviewer. They should receive an email from the Heisman scholarship board 24 hours after you complete their application.
Your reviewer needs to add the Heisman email address to the safe zone to ensure that the email is accepted and not marked spam.
Your application will be disqualified if the review isn’t completed by the deadline.
