FUTMINNA Department of Education & Science Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Education and Science Faculty of  Education in Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA)  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in FUTMINNA   to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA, FUTMx) is a Federal Government established post-secondary educational institution located in Minna, Nigeria

FUTMINNA specializes in technological education. The University is a designated Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering and has a core competence in the development of vaccines and drugs.

FUTMINNA was founded in 1983, and the first Vice-Chancellor was Professor J.O. Ndagi who served from 1983 to 1990. The governing bodies are the Council and the Senate. In the beginning, the University took over the facilities of the former Government Teachers’ College Bosso, for use on a permanent basis. This site now serves as the Bosso Campus of the University. The main campus gidan kwano which is sited on a 10,650 hectares of land is located along the Minna – Kataeregi – Bida Road. The institution is listed in the Guide to Higher Education in AfricaAssociation of African Universities and the International Association of Universities, 1999.

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Science;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and two other Science subjects.


1. RSUST accepts a pass in English Language and Mathematics in exceptional cases.

2. FUTMINNA requires any three other science subject.

3. UNN requires Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and two other Science subjects. one subject must be the proposed teaching subject.
For Integrated Science
Five credit passes which includes a credit in at least one Science subject and pass in two other Science subjects.

4. NDU requires five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any other three subjects, two of which must be science subjects in not more than two sittings.


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Science under the Faculty of Education in the above Universities include;

Three relevant Science or NBC subjects


1. UNN requires English Language and any three (3) Science subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Health Science, Agric Science.


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Science, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

1. Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant Science subjects which should include candidates proposed course.

2. NCE credit/merit passes in addition to TC II merit or SSCE credit in relevant subjects.


1.RSUST in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements accepts:                                                                                                                                                                                                 (a) HND (Lower Credit) in related discipline.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   (b) OND, ND with a minimum of Upper credit                                                                                                                                                                                                               (c) NCE in the relevant Science Education programme with a minimum of Pass.                                                                                                                                                         (d) Two (2) GCE A’ Level, HSC in two subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics or their combinations

(2.)UNN accepts Candidates with ND in other areas at distinction, credit, or merit level who possess the University minimum entry requirement plus credit in the teaching subject may be considered for Direct Entry admission but will run the 4 year programme.

3. NDU – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTMINNA  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
