FUTMINNA Department of Agricultural Economics & Extension Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Agricultural Economics and Extension  Faculty of Agriculture  in Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA)  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in FUTMINNA   to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA, FUTMx) is a Federal Government established post-secondary educational institution located in Minna, Nigeria

FUTMINNA specializes in technological education. The University is a designated Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering and has a core competence in the development of vaccines and drugs.

FUTMINNA was founded in 1983, and the first Vice-Chancellor was Professor J.O. Ndagi who served from 1983 to 1990. The governing bodies are the Council and the Senate. In the beginning, the University took over the facilities of the former Government Teachers’ College Bosso, for use on a permanent basis. This site now serves as the Bosso Campus of the University. The main campus gidan kwano which is sited on a 10,650 hectares of land is located along the Minna – Kataeregi – Bida Road. The institution is listed in the Guide to Higher Education in AfricaAssociation of African Universities and the International Association of Universities, 1999.

To study  Agricultural Economics and Extension candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agricultural Economics and Extension;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and one of Geography, Physics and Economics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) FUAM and MOUA accept ‘O’ level pass in Physics.

(ii) DELSU accepts ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(iii) EBSU and OOU require ‘O’ level credit in Physics.

(v) UNIBEN accepts Statistics and Further Mathematics. Also requires at least ‘O’ level pass in Physics and ‘O’level pass in Biology for candidates with ‘O’ level credit in Agricultural Science.

(vi) OAU does not require ‘O’ level credit passes in Geography and Economics.

(vii) UNIOSUN same as in Fisheries.

(viii) MOUA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and any other Science subjects. Also credit in Agricultural Science must be backed up with ‘O’ level pass in Biology

(ix) UNIOSUN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in the SSC or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings in addition to UTME requirements.

(x) UNN accepts five (5) ‘O ’level credit passes in subjects which must include English Language, Biology/or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Physics.

(xi) FUTO requires five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Economics. Accepts ‘O’ level pass in Physics at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xii) LAUTECHrequires English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any of Physics/ Economics/Geography.

(xii) FUNAAB requires

a) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

b) At least ‘O’ level pass in Physics.

c) Candidates with ‘O’ level pass in Biology must possess ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science. Does not accept Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(xiv) LANDMARK requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science with ‘O’ level pass inPhysics. N.B. ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least ‘O’ level pass in Biology.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Agricultural Economics and Extension under the Faculty of Agriculture in the above Universities include;

Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural Science plus Mathematics or Physics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) OOU requires Chemistry and any two (2) of Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Geography.

ii) LANDMARK – Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics, and one from Biology, Agricultural Science, Geography.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agricultural Economics and Extension, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and one of Zoology/Botany/Agricultu ral Science/Biology, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Geology, Economics and Health Science.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ABSU accepts ND/HND at credit level.

(ii) UNICAL – accepts

(a) two (2) ‘A’ level passes in any of Chemistry, Biology / Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science/ Geography /Geology /Economics and Mathematics.

(b) HND, ND/NCE merit but does not accept IJMB and accepts at least ‘O’ level pass in Physics

(iii) EKSU and BSU accept ‘O’ level pass in Physics

(iv) UYO accepts ND upper credit HND lower credit, NCE merit in relevant programs plus UTME requirements.

(v) MAUTECH accepts any of the following:

(a) GCE `A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science

(b) ND in Agriculture, plus ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science

(c) HND with plus ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics., Chemistry & Biology/Agricultural Science

(d) IJMB with seven (7) points in Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science or Mathematics

(vi) FUTA accepts

(a) ND or equivalent professional qualifications at upper credit or ‘A’ level passes in two (2) of the following subjects, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

(vii) RSUST accepts ND upper credit HND/NCE at credit level in relevant subjects, plus UTME requirements into 200 level.

(viii) LAUTECH accepts ND upper credit/HND/NCE at credit level in relevant subjects, plusthe UTME requirements.

(ix) TASU in addition to UTME requirements accepts

(a) ‘A’ level passes to include Chemistry and any of Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics

(b) ND lower credit and NCE merit

(c) HND upper credit and NCE Distinction

(x) EBSU accepts NCE with minimum merit passes in relevant subjects or HND and ND with minimum of upper credit in relevant programs.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTMINNA  for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
