FUTA Department of Remote Senseing and Geosciences Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Remote Sensing And Geosciences Information System under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology   in Federal University of Technology Akure as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in FUTA to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The Federal University of Technology Akure (informally FUT Akure or simply FUTA) was founded in 1981under a drive by the government of Nigeria to create universities that specialised in producing graduates with practical as well as theoretical knowledge of technologies. It is located in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State.

Other universities of technology established around the same time were the Federal University of Technology Owerri, the Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB), which later metamorphosed to the present University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), the Federal University of Technology Minna, the Federal University of Technology Yola, and the Federal University of Technology Bauchi (now Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University).

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Remote Sensing And Geosciences Information System;

You require;Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any of Fine Art, Geography or Wood Work, Biology, Economics, Technical Drawing, Further. Mathematics., Introduction to Building Construction, Bricklaying/Block laying, Concreting, Wall, Floors and Ceiling Finishing, Joinery, Carpentary, Decorative Painting, Lining, Sign and Design, Wall Hanging , Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing, Ceramics, Graphics Design, Graphic Printing, Basic Electricity

FUTA requires five (5) SSC credit passes or its equivalent at a maximum of two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Physics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Economics, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Geography, Government


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Remote Sensing And Geosciences Information System under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Physics, Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology and Economics.


FUTA requires Mathematics and Physics plus one subject from Chemistry, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics and Government


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Remote Sensing And Geosciences Information System, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

((i) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.

(ii) ND/HND upper credits in relevant field.


(i) FUTA accepts;

a) ‘A’ Level, Passes at Credit level in Cambridge International Examination (CIE), Interim Joint Matriculation Board, (IJMB) examination, Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) examination or its equivalent in at least two of the following: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography and Economics; or

b) ND from recognised Polytechnic or College of Technology at Upper Credit level in Quantity Surveying or Building Technology or other relevant fields in Environmental Design and Management.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  180 and above in your JAMB result.
