FUTA Department of Crop, Soil and pest Management Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Crop, Soil And Pest Management under the Faculty of Agriculture  in Federal University of Technology Akure as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in FUTA to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The Federal University of Technology Akure (informally FUT Akure or simply FUTA) was founded in 1981under a drive by the government of Nigeria to create universities that specialised in producing graduates with practical as well as theoretical knowledge of technologies. It is located in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State.

Other universities of technology established around the same time were the Federal University of Technology Owerri, the Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB), which later metamorphosed to the present University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), the Federal University of Technology Minna, the Federal University of Technology Yola, and the Federal University of Technology Bauchi (now Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University).

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Crop, Soil And Pest Management;

You require;Five SSCE credit passes to include Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science Mathematics and one Science/Social Science subject and at least a pass in Physics.


(i) FUTA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credits at SSC, or equivalent at a maximum of two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science. At least ‘O’ level pass in Physics is required.


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Crop, Soil And Pest Management under the Faculty of Agriculture in the above Universities include;

Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture and Mathematics or Physics.


(i) FUTA requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science.


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Crop, Soil And Pest Management, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Agric Science/Botany/Zoology or Physics/Mathematics/ Economics.


FUTA admits candidates with any of the following:

(a) ND with a minimum of upper credit from recognized Polytechnics or Colleges of Technology in relevant Agriculture based disciplines.

(b) University Diploma with at least lower credit, JUPEB, IJMB and Cambridge A level.

(c) at least two (2) General Certificate in Education (GCE) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Agricultural Science with a minimum of C.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTA for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  180 and above in your JAMB result.
