FUGASHUA Department of Biochemistry Admission Requirement

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Biochemistry under the Faculty of Sciences in Adamawa State University  as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in FUGASHUA to  carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

Federal University Gashua (FUGashua) is a university based in Yobe State, Northeastern Nigeria. It is a research institution that seeks to solve immediate needs of the society and give every person the opportunity to acquire knowledge.

The university was established in 2013 by President Goodluck Jonathan.This was done to give every state of Nigeria (those without a federal university) access to higher education and to give all states equal access to education. Yobe State is listed as one of the educationally disadvantaged with low enrollment in schools and high rate of illiteracy.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Biochemistry;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) FUTA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at   two (2) sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science.

(ii) OAU accepts Physics or Biology.

(iii) ABSU requires ‘O’ level credit pass in Physics.

(iv) EBSU, IMSU and COOU accept ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(v) UMUDIKE same as in Food Science and Technology

(vi) EBSU accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology and ‘O’ level pass in Physics.

(vii) NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings.

(viii)  CRUTECH- Same as Biological Science.

(ix)  AJAYI requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include  English language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology at one (1) sitting or six (6) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings.

(x)   UNIMAID accepts ‘O’ level passes in    English Language and Mathematics.

(xi)     CUAB accepts ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(xii)     EBSU requires ’O’ level credit pass in Mathematics or Physics.

(xiii) BELLS require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Geography/ Further Mathematics/ Agricultural Science. (xiv) REDEEMER’S requires five (5) ‘O’ level  credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/ Agricultural Sciences.

(xv)    WESTERN-DEL requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include Chemistry, English Language, Biology, Mathematics and Physics.

(xvi) PLASU – Same as in Chemistry.

(xvii) GOUU accepts ‘O’ level credit pass in any other Science subject in lieu of Physics.

(xviii) KWASU accepts ‘O’ level credit passes in Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science.

(xix) RENAISSANCE requires (5) five ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xx) BSU – Candidates seeking admission into any of these programmes must possess five (5)’O’ level credit passes from one (1) examination body (i.e. either WAEC or NECO) and obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.  The department does not accept the combination of both WAEC and NECO. Students of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi Pre-degree Remedial Science Programme who pass their end of session examinations are considered for admission on the condition that they also pass the UTME. NOTE: Agricultural Science and Health Science shall not be accepted in place of Biology.  Further Mathematics shall not be accepted in place of Physics or Mathematics.

(xxi) SAU accepts ‘O’ level credit passes in Technical Drawing, Agricultural Science or Geography in lieu of Physics

(xxii)  UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxiii) SOUTHWESTERN – Same as Microbiology.

(xxiv) LANDMARK accepts in lieu of Physics ‘O’ level credit passes in any of the following subjects: Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Agricultural Science, Food and Nutrition.

(xxv) SOSU accepts HND lower credit or ND upper credit in Science Laboratory Technology, Food Science Technology or its equivalent.

(xxvi) ODUDUWA accepts ‘O’ level credit pass in Agricultural Science or Health Science in place of Biology.

(xxvii) FED-DUTSINMA accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

(xxvii) UNIKINGS accepts five (5) credits at SSC in English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Biology.

(xxviii) EUI requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxix) DELSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credits and must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xxx) FED-GASHUA requires five (5) SSC credit passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics.

(xxxi) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics

(xxxii) FED-DUTSE requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at SSC level or its equivalent to include Englsih Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxxiii) RSUST requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

(xxxiv) MOUNTAIN TOP requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxxv) FUTO requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology in not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxxvi) UNILORIN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xxxvii) FED-WUKARI requires Candidates must obtain Five (5) Credits at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any one from the following subjects; Physics/Agricultural Science/Health Science/Animal Husbandry obtained from Senior School Certificate(SSCE), National Examination Council(NECO), National Business and Technical Examination Board(NABTEB) or its equivalent. (xxxviii) CARITAS requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science.

(xxxix) MAUTECH requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.

(xl) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xli) FED-LOKOJA requires Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. (xlii) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xliii) UNIPORT requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.

(xliv) FED-LAFIA requires Five (5) Credit passes at SSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB O’ Level examination in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings.

(xlv) FED-KASHERE accepts Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(xlvi) KASU accepts Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xlvii) LANDMARK accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and one of the following Physics, Agricultural Science, Food and nutrition

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Biochemistry under the Faculty of Sciences in the above Universities include;

Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) AAU and EKSU require Mathematics.

(ii) OAU requires Chemistry, Mathematics and either Biology or Physics.

(iii) UNILORIN requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(iv) SALEM, MAKURDI, OSUSTECH, ABU and BENIN require Biology, Chemistry and Physics

(v) BOWEN requires Chemistry and any two (2) of Physics, Mathematics and Biology.

(vi) AJAYI – Same as Chemistry.

(vii) BELLS does not require Biology in lieu of Mathematics.

(viii) WESTERN-DEL requires Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(x) FUTA requires Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Mathematics/Physics.

(xi) KWASU requires Chemistry, Biology plus any one (1) of Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics or Geography.

(xii) CUAB and SAU require Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.

(xii) OSUSTECH requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(xiii) SOUTHWESTERN – Same as Microbiology.

(xiv) UNIOSUN requires Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

(xv) NILE accepts any three (3) Science subjects.

xvi) FED-DUTSINMA requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics.

(xvii) DELSU requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xviii) FED-GASHUA accepts Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics. (xix) AAUA requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xx) FED-DUTSE accepts Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(xxi) RSUST requires Mathematics, Biology Chemistry.

(xxii) MAIDUGURI requires Chemistry and any two (2) of Biology, Mathematics and Physics.

(xxiii) FED-OYE EKITI requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxiv) FUTO requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.

(xxv) FED-WUKARI requires Biology, Chemistry and any of physics and mathematics

(xxvi)  CARITAS requires Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

(xxvii) MAUTY requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

(xxviii) LAGOS requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxix) FED-LOKOJA requires Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Physics.

(xxx) ABU requires Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

(xxxi) UNIPORT requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

(xxxii) FED-KASHERE requires Biology, Chemistry and any of Physics or Mathematics.

(xxxiii) KASU requires Biology, Chemistry and one other Science subject.

(xxxiv) LANDMARK requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agriculture, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;Two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/ Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i)ABSU and UNIMAID accept ND Agriculture into 100 level programme. (200 Level for EUI).

(ii)IBBU and UNILORIN require ‘A’ Level passes in both Chemistry and Biology.

(iii)FUAM, UI and AAU accept NCE merit in Agriculture double major.

(iv)IMSU – accepts ND/NCE Double Major or HND in Agriculture or related disciplines with at least a merit pass into 200 level and HND (Upper Credit) into 300 level.

(v)UDUSOK and ABU accept ND distinction, HND credit, NCE double major at credit level in Agriculture. UDU accepts ND Upper credit and HND lower credit.

(vi)UI and  MOUAU accept ND or HND in the related fields. UI Agricultural candidates must apply to read Agriculture until 500 level when options will be available.

(vii)AAU accepts Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture at ‘A’ Level and ND upper credit in Agricultural Science and HND Agriculture not below credit pass. Also accepts ND/NCE credit in Agricultural Science with at least a pass in Physics at the ‘O’ Level.

(viii)EBSU and MOUAU accept ND distinction/credit, HND credit into 200 level while those with ND lower credit NCE Double Major at credit/merit level in Agriculture are admitted into 100 level.

(ix)MOUAU requires ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science.

(x)UNILORIN accepts ND/NCE credit pass in Agriculture into 200 level while those with HND may be admitted into 300 level. Also accepts NCE merit in Biology, Chemistry or Agriculture, and ND merit in Banking/Finance, Business Management plus UTME requirements.

(xi)IBBU accept ND upper credit in Agriculture plus five (5) relevant credit passes at SSC.(xii)BIU accepts ND/NCE distinction or credit into 200 level.

(xiii)EKSU requires a minimum of credit pass in Physics and accepts ND upper credit in Agriculture related programs, Forestry Assistant Certificate from IITA, Ibadan or any other relevant Higher Institution.

(xiv)KUST accepts NCE merit and ND in Chemistry/Biology upper credit/any relevant qualification.

(xv)KSUSTA accepts Two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied).

(xvi)BU accepts NCE/ND or approved equivalent in relevant programs, IJMB at acceptable passes. For Food Science and Technology, at least ‘O’ Level pass in Physics is required.

(xvii)BIU requires in addition to the ‘O’ Level requirements specified in the table, a minimum of two (2) relevant subjects passed at GCE ‘A’ Level or NCE merits or ND in relevant programs not below credit level.

(xviii)ABU accepts;

(i)two (2) ‘A’ level / IJMB Passes in Chemistry and any of Biology, Botany, Zoology and Agricultural Science.

ii) HND in Agriculture or related field of study with a minimum of Lower credit pass.

iii) ND in Agriculture or related field of study with a minimum of Lower Credit

(xix)BUK accepts;

a)ND

b)NCE Agriculture double major.

c)NCE in Biology and Chemistry.

(xx)FUOYE accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Geography.For Animal Production and Health, the options include Geology

(xxi)ABUAD requires ‘A’ Level passes or its equivalent qualifications as approved by the Senate in at least two (2) subjects to include Biology and any of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

(xxii)FUDMA​​​​​​​ requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Agricultural Science/Zoology/Physics.

(xxiii)DELSU requires;

a)‘A’ Level passes in relevant subjects or

b)ND with a minimum of upper credit plus five (5) credit passes in WAEC/GCE/NECO O’ Level to be admitted into 200 level.

c)‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and any of Biology, Agricultural Science, Physics and Economics.

d)NCE with merit pass in Agricultural Science.

(xxiv)FUGASHUA​​​​​​​ requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agric. It also accepts OND/ND (Upper Credit), HND (Lower credit) and NCE Merit and above into 200 Level. Gashua gives consideration to candidates with pass in physics with credit pass in Geography/Economics at ‘O’ Level.

(xxv)UNIPORT accepts Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB passes in Agricultural Science and any one from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Economics including UTME entry requirements.OND (Upper Credit) in Agriculture from a recognized Institution including UTME entry requirements.HND with at least a (Lower Credit) from a recognised institution, including UTME entry requirements for a 3-year degree programme. Diploma in Agriculture from a recognised institution with minimum of Credit Pass, including UTME entry requirements.

(xxvi)RSUST in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements accepts:

(a) HND (Lower Credit) in related discipline.

(b) OND (ND) (Upper Credit) in related disciplines.

(c) NCE holders with credit passes in Biology or Agric Science may be admitted into Second Year.

(d) Two (2) HSC/GCE ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology.

(xxvii)FED-DUTSE requires any of the following:

(a) two ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agric Science, Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied).

(b) ND in Crop Production, Agronomy, Agric Extension, Farm Management, with Merit.

(c) NCE with Merit in Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science Double Major.

(xxvii)FUTO requires;

a)At least two (2) A’ level passes not below Grade C in Chemistry and any one of Zoology, Botany, Agricultural Science, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Economics.

b)OND/HND at Upper Credit in Life Sciences.c)First Degree in Life Sciences.

d)Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects namely Chemistry and any two (2) of Biology/ Agricultural Science, Mathematics and Physics.It does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet the ‘O’ Level requirements

(xxviii)BUK requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Biology or Agriculture, ND, NCE Agriculture (double major), NCE with Chemistry and Biology or Agriculture.

(xxix)FUWUKARI​​​​​​​ – Direct Entry candidates must obtain Two A/L passes at GCE, IJMB, or Advanced NABTEB Which must include Chemistry Or obtain at least a Merit at NCE Or Lower credit in OND/ HND from approved Institution. Such candidate must also satisfy the O/L requirement for admission.

(xxx)KASU accepts Two ‘A’ Level passes including Chemistry and one of Biology, Botany, Zoology Agric Science, Physics, Geography Geology, Mathematics, Health Science and Economics. ND/HND Lower credit in related field. NCE merit and IJMB.7 points and above in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements.

(xxxi)FUK​​​​​​​: A candidate Must have ND with a minimum of lower credit, NCE or IJMB with at least 9 Points in relevant areas.

(xxxii)LANDMARK accepts Two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science,Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied)

All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUGASHUA for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of  160 and above in your JAMB result.
