Federal Government Declares Public Holiday to Celebrate Democracy Day 2023

In a recent announcement, the Federal Government of Nigeria declared Monday, June 12, 2023, a public holiday.

This special day commemorates the nation’s Democracy Day, a significant event on the Nigerian calendar that celebrates the return to democratic rule in Nigeria.

In an official statement released on Thursday in Abuja, the Ministry of Interior Permanent Secretary, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, declared the public holiday on behalf of the Federal Government.

Dr Akinlade warmly congratulated all Nigerians on the upcoming occasion, stating;
