In a recent official announcement, the Federal Government of Nigeria declared Wednesday, June 28th, and Thursday, June 29th, 2023 as public holidays.
This decision was made to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, one of the most significant events in the Muslim calendar.
Commemorating Eid-el-Kabir
Contained in a statement by a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the government extends its congratulations to the Muslim Ummah at home and in the diaspora on this occasion.
“The Federal Government has declared Wednesday June 28th and Thursday June 29th 2023 Public Holidays in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration and heartily felicitates with the Muslim Ummah at home and in the diaspora,”
Call to Sacrifice for Growth and Development
In the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, Akinlade urged Muslims and all Nigerians to make sacrifices for the growth and development of their communities and the country as a whole.
The occasion, known for its symbolic representation of sacrifice, was used as a call to unity and dedication towards a better Nigeria.
The Hope for Peace and Unity
Akinlade expressed optimism that the prayers and sacrifices made during this season would bring much-needed peace and unity to the country.
The government recognizes the power of collective prayers, especially during this religious event that cuts across the Muslim Ummah worldwide.
“We are hopeful that the prayers and sacrifices that come with this great celebration as well as the message of Eid-ei-Kabir will bring about peace, unity and progress in Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
Conclusion
The Federal Government calls on all citizens to use this period to reflect on the nation’s state and commit to actions that will lead to national growth and development.
As Nigerians enjoy these public holidays, it’s hoped that Eid-el-Kabir’s true spirit will manifest in the lives of citizens and the nation.
