Professor Aloysius-Michaels Nnabugwu Okolie had been approved by the Enugu State Government as the new vice chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT)
The Enugu State Governor who visited the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi approved the appointment of Aloysius-Michaels Nnabugwu Okolie as the Vice-Chancellor of the institution till further notice.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, the appointment is with effect from Monday, April 4, 2022.
Aloysius-Michaels Nnabugwu Okolie, who hails from Awgu town in Agwu Local Government, Enugu State, is a professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
He was Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Chairman, UNN Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) until his appointment.
The new ESUT Vice-Chancellor (VC) is a Knight of the Order of St. Mulumba and is married with children.
Professor Okolie belongs to several national and international scholarly and professional Associations and has served in several national and international Committees including;
- Federal Government Committee on NEEDS Assessment of Nigerian Universities.
- Member Committee on Bilateral Relationship between DAPAD Foundation of Japan and UNN.
- Member, Visitation Team to Public Universities.
This appointment was received positively by the students and people Enugu State.
