The government of Lagos state has decided to permit Chrisland High School, Opebi branch, to resume in response to a parent’s appeal for on-site learning.
This decision came earlier in the school’s forthcoming examinations.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos state government, had ordered the dismissal of the school on March 3, 2023, in the wake order to investigate Whitney Adeniran’s death.
The state Ministry of Education, through the governor, stated that an uninterrupted investigation would be enabled due to the closure of the school, and there would be time for parents, students, staff, all stakeholders, and deceased friends to mourn.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General ordered a coroner’s inquest into the matter to determine the cause of death.
At LASUTH, known as Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, an autopsy was conducted by consultant Pathologist Prof. Sunday Soyemi on February 15th in the presence of two other consultants,.
Pathologists Dr. Samuel Keshinro and Dr. Olugbenga Oyewole represent the deceased’s family and Chrisland Schools, respectively.
The cause of Whitney Adeniran’s death was revealed on March 1 by the autopsy report as asphyxia and electrocution.
As a result, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General instructed an issuance of legal advice on the matter by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
He added the closure of the school to investigate the lives and well-being of students and others additionally.
Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, the state commissioner of Education, on Monday evening, in a statement, stated that permission had been granted by the ministry.
This is for students in terminal classes to access the Opebi branch of Chrisland High School to resume physical learning in preparation for their upcoming examinations.
