Australia Awards Scholarships

The Australia Awards Scholarships, previously known as Australian Development Scholarships (ADS), provide education opportunities.

Opportunities for citizens of developing nations, particularly those in the Indo-Pacific region, to pursue full-time undergraduate or graduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

Scholarship Value/inclusions/duration:

On the official website, you can find a comprehensive list of benefits from the scholarship. The package includes all expenses such as tuition fees, round-trip airfare, living allowance, health coverage, academic program, and English language course fees.

The scholarships are available for the shortest duration required by the individual to finish their specified academic program at an Australian higher education institution, which may also include preparatory training.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to receive a Scholarship, applicants must:

• Being a citizen of one of the participating nations, as specified on the Australia Awards website, and residing in and applying for the scholarship from their country of citizenship; being at least 18 years old on February 1 of the year the scholarship begins;
•  Not holding permanent residency in Australia, not being an Australian citizen, and not pursuing permanent residency there;
•  During the Application, selection, or mobilization phases, the applicant must not be married to, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who possesses, or is eligible to possess, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency (note: Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau residents Individuals with New Zealand citizenship are eligible to study, but they must apply for a student visa.
• Not be a member of the military right now;
•  Not have received a long-term Australia Award before unless they have lived abroad for twice as long as they spent in Australia (for instance, a previous awardee who was on an Australia Awards Scholarship in Australia for four years won’t be qualified to apply for another Australia Awards Scholarship until they have lived abroad for eight years);
•  Not possess criminal convictions (including those from their nation), including those for PSEAH and child protection;
•  Long-term Australia Awards may be applied for by Pacific Secondary School Scholarship Program (PSSSP) awardees who finished secondary school in Australia the previous year;
•  have met any requirements imposed by the Program Area or the government of the applicant’s applicant’s country of citizenship, such as having worked a certain number of years in the right field;
•  Be able to meet the institution’sinstitution’s entrance standards. If the award recipient cannot meet the institution’sinstitution’s admission requirements, Program Areas may be required to withdraw their award offer. The answer won’t be known until Program Areas ask to be placed at particular universities);
•  To possess a student visa in accordance with all Department of home affairs requirements. If the beneficiary is unable to meet the visa criteria, this could mean that the Program Area will need to withdraw an award offer;
• you should not be applying for a scholarship for a course of study at a lower academic level than you already have (for example, applying for a Master’sMaster’s scholarship when you already have a PhD); 
• Suppose you have any connection or relationship with staff employed at Program Areas or managing contractors, including locally engaged staff at the post. In that case, it is important to inform the Program Area as an applicant. For the Application to be properly and transparently managed.

The list provides specific information on priority areas and how to apply. If you cannot apply online, you may also apply by mail.

The deadline is April 29 2023 except for Tonga, which is still to be announced.
