This article is designed to help students who wish to study Education and Science under the Faculty of Education in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) as it is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in (ATBU) to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) is a federal university of technology located in Bauchi, north east Nigeria. The university is named after the first Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The motto of the university is “Doctrina Mater Artium”, which means “Education is the mother of the practical arts
The academic pattern of the university was formulated in 1980 after consultation with subject experts from Nigeria, United Kingdom and the United States of America. The curriculum adopted was applied in nature, as suited a technologically based institution, and this theme is maintained in all the units of the university.

O’LEVEL SUBJECT COMBINATION
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Science;
You require;Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and two (2) other Science subjects.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) RSUST accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) Science Subjects.
(ii) FUTMINNA requires any three (3) other Science subjects.
(iii) UNN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and two (2) other Science subjects. One (1) subject must be the proposed teaching subject.
For Integrated Science: Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which should include one Science subject and passes in two (2) other Science subjects.
(iv) NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any other three (3) subjects, two (2) of which must be Science subjects and at not more than two (2) sittings.
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Science under the Faculty of Education in the above Universities include;
Three relevant Science or NBC subjects
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) UNN requires English Language and any three (3) Science subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Health Science, Agricultural Science.
(ii) RSUST accepts Chemistry and any other two (2) Science Subjects.
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Science, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
(i)Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in relevant Science subjects which should include candidates proposed course.
(ii)NCE credit/merit in addition to TC II merit or ‘O’ Level credit in relevant subjects.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) RSUST in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements accepts:
(a) HND (Lower Credit) in related discipline.
(b) OND, ND with a minimum of Upper credit.
(c) NCE in the relevant Science Education programme with a minimum of Pass.
(d) Two (2) GCE A’ Level, HSC in two subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics or their combinations.
(ii) UNN accepts candidates with ND in other areas at distinction, credit, or merit level. Those who pass the University’s requirement plus credit in the teaching subject may be considered for Direct Entry admission but will run the four (4)-year programme.
(iii) NDU accepts:
Direct Entry Applicants into 300 Level in a 4-year Degree Programme
a.NCE credit or higher in two (2) major subjects in relevant areas.
b.HND Certificate with passes at credit level or higher in a relevant programme.
c.For B.Ed Technology programme Holders of NCE and HND credit or higher in the relevant programme.
Direct Entry Applicants into 200 Level in a 4-year Degree Programme
a.Two(2) ‘A’ Level passes in relevant subjects.
b.ND credit or upper credit in a relevant programme.
c.NCE merit in two (2) relevant subjects.
d.For B.Ed Technology programme, holders of NCE, City and Guilds, NBC/NTC merit in relevant subjects.
All candidates interested in getting admitted into ATBU for the 2019/2020 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have score a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
